Since the very first time I played harkus, I have hated it. It takes forever to get interesting, and when it does there are only about 3 minutes in the match left. The limited lives mechanic is a good idea but not well executed and more often than not I'm either tediously hurling rounds at feeble attackers or attempting useless strategies against the main gates. I'm sure it can be fun with a group, but most players aren't ever in groups so I don't think it is prudent to have a 20 minutes time sink so that a minority of the game population can have fun at PUG's expense. Do you agree? Do you have any suggestions for fixing this map?
Everyone has good and bad maps this will be bad map for some, that being said I don't see reason for a change
This was one of the reasons I posted the thread, to see how much my opinion differed from others. If it is popular than I guess I will just want a way to avoid playing it, which with the map system, might mean that I can.
Fortresses can be boring, but they can also be a lot more fun than the smaller maps which I find rather bland.
I've also never enjoyed it. There's too much incentive for defenders to camp unless they're REALLY cocky and leave the walls. The interior courtyard goes completely unused most of the time. All fighting is around A and the gate/pipe (what used to be the stairs). If I were to recommend something: make the game mode a bit more complex. Put an extra objective outside the walls in the abandoned ruins and allow the defenders to spawn there. Start tickets only after the attackers capture this objective. Allow defenders to spawn vehicles around this objective to get some legitimate vehicle vs vehicle combat in the game. It's either that or finish fleshing out secondary objectives (assuming they were in the pipe at all). The maps are going to waste because there isn't enough to do on them. Torias and Harkus are especially bad offenders in this regard. Contrast them with Olipsis, which has the majority of its map used because it is simply smaller.
I hated it before, but after the map revision I'm enjoying it on attack and defense again. That said...all things in moderation. Can't stand the map after the 3rd time in a row.
It needs work but I like it. With limited lives for defenders and siego atmosphere I like it. After last changed they tried to improve it but I think they messed up. North pipelines are unaccesible and this sucks couse it leaves attackers only with south pipes system and gates. The previous ramp was a bad idea (couldn`t find any logic why someone would build it) but at least it was another possibility to get inside. With four diractions to attack defenders had to react quickly for attackers actions. Now they can cover all entrances easilly. I suppose it will be improved. I would add some aditional mechanisms for that map. Turrets are real nightmare for attackers so they could place some little well defenced bunker outside the gates with some power supply lines. Defenders could choose to deploy some limited numbers of troops there for defending it. No respawn point or with very limited tickets so hard to reinforce it with troops from fortress. Destrying power supply lines would mean turning turrets down or greatly increasing their overheating time. I think this is more interesting that spawning heavy weapons and shooting them couse it is quite same for every match - once you will learn spots from where you can shoot them without being killed with counterfire it is getting boring. Another idea I have is to implement drop pod/gateway/rokk descend attack system. Give attackers some strictly limited use of them (no respawming), some ability to coordinate it between squads and deploy small kill-teams behind the walls directly. This could force defenders to be carefull what is going on, not just sitting at the walls and shooting.
A lot of the reworks of the ruins outside the base are actually really fun to fight in now, especially if the defenders come out to play. Apart from that not much has changed so my original thread still stands: Edit. It had spoilers to a new map. Will revise.
