Handling The Chaos Gods With Only Undivided Choices...

Discussion in 'Chaos Space Marines' started by Kuniku, Jan 8, 2014.

  1. well based on the legion im in that's the god im going to serve.

    BLACK LEGION: Nurgle......... HELL YA!
    NIGHT LORDS: Tzeentch
    WORD BEARERS: Khorne........ FUCK YA!
im not sure slaanesh would work with the Iron Warriors but ill sure as hell try!

with the Word Bearers leaning towards more Dark Apostles/Ex Chaplains, wouldn't they be better suited to the sorc' of Tzeentch?

TBH with regards to which legion I'll roll will be down to which class benefits with which legion compared to which looks best ^__^

Not sure if we'll constantly be tied to that legions colour scheme or not though?

That they have chosen "undivided" Chaos Legions is no coincidence.

If they published the specific-chaos-god-directed Legions, the players would be FORCED to choose which god, which style, and be very limited. It would be really, really, really "black/white", although with 4 choices, not just 2.

The good thing about chaos undivided, and these legions, is that you are have the freedom to choose to follow all (chaos undivided), one (any god), or even none.

    The Night Lords, for example:

You have the freedom to worship no god, and be true to the generic Night Lord, or you can choose to Roleplay a Night Lord who is "falling" to one of the gods, or even to all. There is more freedom to Roleplay.

What If they had published The World Eaters, The Thousand Sons, The Emperor's Children, and The Death Guard Legion?

You would be FORCED to choose one of the Legions, who are FORCED to follow ONE of the gods. There is much less freedom to Roleplay, and there would be much less richness in the Roleplaying possibilities, politics, etc.

If you are a Nurgle follower you will hate and go against Tzeentch
If you are a Khorne follower you will hate and go against Slaanesh

And that's it. (Even If there are few exceptions, that's the rule)

I prefer and am happy that the have chosen these Chaos Undivided Legions, first of all because they are unexplored Legions in general, and for once we are given the chance to enjoy them. The Iconic Legions of the four gods are nice, but I think it's time to show other legions too.

They shouldnt be exclusive of one another, and we will undoubtedly have both the 4 god specific ones and the current ones at one point in time. And still with our choice to go 4 god specific one legion would still be voted upon which would be undivided (just like we are voting on the 5th legion when the time comes).

So you still wouldnt be forced to worship a single god (or any if the 5th would indeed be Night Lords), but i can see where you people are coming from when you want variety of choice in your undivided legions, just like im hoping everyone on the other side of the argument is understanding us.

As long as the Gods are all suitably represented, and i'm not limited in what class I play by what god I want to follow (besides the obvious exceptions) I don't mind.

For me being able to follow the god I want while playing the class I want and get gameplay differences from it is more important, in a way the legion I choose is more based on the colour scheeme I want =p

I truly hope they do add the characteristic and "one god devoted" Legions, of course, I just mean that I am glad in the beginning they don't limit us to "choose between gods".

As much as I love chaos, and how badly I wanted noise marines. If the 4 gods end up just as minor passive buffs or something like that I think Ill end up going with orks, after all, most of my friends are lol

Yeh, it needs to be more that just minor passive buffs, it needs to be game changing and aesthetically different!

I'd like mutations to be considered at least. If you ever played Warhammer Online, The Maraurder class was based around mutations. But there's so much more that could be done around it.

Well it must be for design ease/simplicity for the time being.

Lets face it, a World Eater Nurgal Follower does make sense from a lore Stand Point. A Emperor's Children Tzeentch makes even less.

So obviously they would be bound to their respective single God. You would be more limited in your choices. And it really wouldn't be fair. Just by mechanics alone the undivided legions would be more attractive choices. And would have a more indepth game play.

The way around that would be to give them something special to make sacrificing options and game play depth worthwhile. And then you run into extra balance and design issues they probably are just not trying to deal with right now.

Or at least that is how I see it. I still really really want World Eaters. Would be nice to see the greatest of the Chaos Legions be able to take the field with their old power once again.
