Unlikely, Imperial Guard have breacher squads as well represented by veterans with demo charges. Strike teams are likely renamed Fire Warrior squads with new special weapons geared for mid-range combat while Breachers are short ranged.
Agreed, and personally I think a bigger problem would originate from the overall style. The tau way of war is more about hitting hard, remaining mobile and keeping the foe at range. By comparison, the astartes squads suggested were build to storm right into the firestorm of combat and endure as much firepower as was needed. Personally, i'd agree it was likely to have specialist weapons more than anything else, or possibly resembling sappers more than anything else. Perhaps a variation of Pathfinders outfitted with a substantial number of grenades, explosives and fusion weapons, quickly deployed from a transport.
FW has talked about the two Tau methods of war being too restrictive and plan to create at least 1 new, starting with the KX139 Ta'unar which was designed for static defense, a concept completely foreign to them.
this suit is different because is not a battlesuit but a ballistic suit, is basically a tank with leg. (and also described as a less honored role respect to the battlesuit).
That looks so awesome! Glad to see the Tau are getting some new stuff. These look like they're gonna pack a punch.
Flamethrowers next to the sensor array? Sounds like a good recipe for the Darwin awards. EDIT: Second picture, top left. New terrain or conversion?
