  1. Grimgrub Dregdakka SneakyGit Arkhona Vanguard

    Power armored Dwarves! Squats confirmed!
  2. The new Psychic Phase.

The Warp Charge Pool is gone. (Sounds like the Chaos version of a Hot Tub.)
Each Psyker now operates independently, able to cast as many powers as their Datasheet says, and for the casting to be successful you need to beat the Warp Charge value by rolling two dice.

The more potent the power, the higher the Warp Charge value.

Enemy psykers have a chance to block a power if they are within 24", but can only do so a limited number of times (equal to the amount of powers they can cast).

    This makes the system scalable.

Perils of the Warp is still around.

Each Faction will have its own psychic lore and a range of thematic powers.
But every psyker now knows Spite.

    Notice the phrase "Mortal Wounds"?
They're a new mechanic, and they punch through armour and invulnerable saves.
  3. Lol...so a basic Psyker has the potential to one shot Guilliman.

    Tzeentch is pleased.
  4. Sooo... AoS-style Mortal Wounds, then. Why not.
  5. Do you remember this picture?

Well I noticed something on the 40th Anniversary WD Grombrindal model.
    https://www.games-workshop.com/en-GB/Grombrindal-40-years-of-White-Dwarf-2017?_requestid=5665599

He has a giftwrapped Bolt Pistol of an unknown Pattern.
And it's the same pattern of pistol as the Guillimarine is carrying.

Edit: In fact I'd say Grombrindal's power armour is the same pattern/mark as the Guillimarines.

Same type of Sabaton (foot armour), ankle, Greave, Poleyn (kneepad), Tasset, and from what can be seen the Breastplate as well.

Plus there's more as the back-part of the Grombrindal's Breastplate has a Mk IV feel with a cable passing from the backpack to connect to the front of the Breastplate in the rib area beneath the armpits.
His Vambraces look to be a combination of Mk II and Mk IV styles.
And his backpack has larger parts including extra armour on the vents/stabiliser jets.

I think the Guillimarines are real....
Also, if Grombrindal's model is an indication of what the Guillimarines' armour is like then I'd say it looks like a development of Praetor armour with Mk VIII and Terminator armour influences.
  6. Atarius Atarius First Blood!

Hm, this gonna be interesting, in a good or bad way.
  7. News on the Shooting Phase.
    https://www.warhammer-community.com/2017/04/30/new-40k-shooting-phase-apr30gw-homepage-post-4/

Like the 7th Ed. rules, hitting your target is based on a fixed Ballistic Skill, plus if you Advance (run) you can't.
If you Fall Back (Advance to the rear) then you can't shoot either.

You can't shoot if there is an enemy with 1" of you, though Pistols are an exception.
Models with pistols can shoot at the closest enemy target during the Shooting Phase, even if they themselves are locked in combat.
Well Cypher and his players, should be pleased!

You can't shoot enemies in Close Combat with other units. But once their opponents Fall Back, you're free to shoot them.
That should provide new tactics and strategies.

The rules for Heavy Weapons have changed. Snap Firing is gone, instead if you move you can then fire with a -1 to Hit modifier.
This applies to all models with Heavy Weapons (unless otherwise stated I guess), including vehicle-mounted ones.

Another change is to how Cover works.
Currently it's a blanket save for all units that only comes into affect if needed.
In 8th Ed. Cover provides a bonus to your Armour Save, and this can be dependent on the type of unit and the type of cover.
An example is that only Infantry get a Cover bonus from a crater.

Plus, if your weapon is powerful enough you can shoot through walls!

There are even weapons that ignore any Cover Bonus, like a Leman Russ' Nova Cannon or the weapons of Noise Marines.
  8. "I, Robooty Guilliman..." I'll admit, I chuckled.
  9. If these are the Tall Space Marines, I'm gonna be calling them Double Mon-Keigh.
    Defiance likes this.
