Usually the point of forming squads with mates is for fun. It's not like banding up with several squads of Guardsmen is pointless.
If it makes 1 man tanks possible then that just means you and your buddies roll around as an armoured squadron. <--- Probably imba though

No Orks have to be the only f2p otherwise the entire system is compromised AND lets be honest Ork Boyz are f2p because free players tend to be dicks and you can't have soldiers like the IG being dicks without being massacred. Personally I see it more as one player controls a squad.

How is it going to work in melee? How will all five guardsmen be controlled by one person while swiping at a charging Nob? Does the Nob just need to kill the sergeant to get the kill, or does he need to murder all five guardsmen?

Which guardsmen to snipers aim for? Will a sergeant headshot be an automatic kill for the entire squad, or does the player simply switch control to another guardsmen? Or do the guardsmen become NPCs on death?

If one guardsman dies, how does the squad replenish its health? Is the squad just out however many hitpoints? Or do the other guardsmen get beefed as a result?

While controlling a Leman Russ, how will one person control all the sponson guns and turrets as well as the main gun, and still manage to drive?

When grouping with other squads, and you're all behind cover, will there be overspill from having ten-fifteen-thirty guardsmen all hiding behind the same wall? Are some going to get blown apart by artillery or enemy fire? Do those guardsmen count towards a kill, or is it a game glitch?

Do people who kill guardsmen not being directly controlled by the player receive partial points for doing so? Do they get assists for not damaging the sergeant directly but still killing the enemy?

Don't see how that compromises the system. IG use mass-unit tactics, same as Orkz. Having F2P guardsmen fits in with the lore just as well as having F2P Ork Boyz, and it will give the Boyz a way to deal with the enemy without MOTHERFUCKINGDYING en masse from the P2P players.

And it's not true F2P players are dicks: I F2P in several games and am not ill-behaved in any of them. And I know plenty of people in said games who do spend money and are dicks. Your supposition has no basis.

Simple 1. Many new players will simply go straight to IG meaning the Ork horde is greatly lessened and 2. This leads to EVERYONE demanding f2p factions so the entire thing comes crashing down with either people quitting or too much f2p. Well it's a basic thing that lots of free players ARE dicks I'm not saying all of them are and that only f2pers are dicks but it's a thing.

Player based "squads" would be platoons if the smallest force IG players could field were a squad (other than perhaps the "elites" Kasrkin/ST's. Strike forces would be a division of a regiment and would number roughly 5 times that of a Space Marine equivalent. It remains true to lore and the game.

You're making a lot of assumptions
    • Assuming no one will want to play Orks
    • Assuming everyone will want to play IG
    • Assuming all the other factions will want F2P
    • Assuming other factions wanting F2P is a bad thing
    • Assuming people who play games for free are dicks
You need more evidence for the things you say.

Okay judging from the forum where Orks have the second smallest audience fewer people will.
    Admit thats an assumption
People will think it's unfair and will then request/demand f2p
It is because there is no way on earth Orks have the majority of the fanbase
    SOME are SOME

The fact that the Orks have fewer people than the other factions means nothing; we're a little less than two years from the game releasing. And you're also acting like the point of giving Orkz the F2P boyz was intended to give them a majority of the fanbase; it wasn't. We have four factions at launch, meaning that even if the Orkz are a distinct minority, they can still team up with another faction to bring the hurt to whoever is winning the campaign. That's the idea if the ever-shifting battlefield. The Devs have said that, should the Boyz work out, they intend to add other F2P factions to give people a better taste of the game before they buy it, which almost certainly means F2P guardsmen and/or Chaos heretics. All this will do is divide the F2P playerbase, which is semi-transient anyways, since most of them would stop playing as boyz to play as full-on Ork Nobz or another P2P faction anyways. The only population that will be reduced will be the boyz, but if Behavior had their way there would be no boyz and everyone would pay to play their game, because that makes them money.
