No just no the imperial guard should not under any circumstance be put with the space marines and should always be seperate from them, it would break the game and the lore to do otherwise (well dont know about the game but the lore is a definate).

Boyz are f2p to recreate the feeling of an "Ork Horde".
Adding f2p variants for the 2 generally most popular races (SM and Chaos) would severely compromise that.

Not if they are done correctly it would not as each army should have its own "uniqeness" to it in the way that it plays it looks and the general gaming experience, but what it would do though is severly compromise the lore at least for the space marines, as they no longer have any direct control over the imperial guard in any shape or form and as such if/when the Imperial Guard are added to EC then they will have to be their own sub faction of the imperium of man. Chaos in its own way would benefit from having cultists/renegades added to them, but whether you make them f2p is an entirely different question altogether.

Be aware I was only making a point that was specifically targeting "Free to Play" factions. If they don't end up being free, then all's fine and dandy (until IG players realise there's more Space Marines than there are Guardsmen.)

Having anything f2p besides Orks would compromise the horde. The f2players would split amongst the free factions, and Orks are certainly not as popular a race as Guard or Chaos.
So suddenly, the Orks don't have enough bang for their buck. Or boyz for their horde - you get the idea.

Not that I'm saying it could never work. I'm sure extra f2p could be added, but only after launch - after there is enough evidence to show that the Orks have a stable enough population that they can take the hit of having a competing f2p faction.

Only thing I can think of besides relying on population stability is a system where Ork boyz have increased strength if their population is low. Though this is quite backwards where lore is concerned - as Orks rely on strength in numbers, not strength without numbers.

IG should not be a f2P faction. If they're ever implemented, the IG should be squad based characters, meaning that a player is basically a sergeant, controls the load outs of 5 guys, and then commands them to do his or her bidding. They should only need 1 player to operate a tank (their NPC squad fills the other roles) and allows them to create tank columns and also have huge armies. I really hope they have Deathstrike Missiles too.

That sounds really good. Like a Brothers In Arms kind of deal - could turn IG into one of the more skill-based races (unless all-out npc soldier zergs turn out to be a viable all-round tactic).

I was thinking along the lines of Freedom Fighters :D

Yeah and destroys the point of you and your mates of ever forming squads together.

No that sounds ridiculous. It's completely wrong to make them tank based and Deathstrikes make it kind of pointless.

I'm almost willing to bet the basic Guardsman will be filling the same role as one of the Boyz; F2P material. But if we're talking a Storm Trooper/Kasrkin, Ogryn, Sanctioned Psyker or Commissar, then perhaps there will be P2P options for the IG.

But I can't realistically see the lone guardsman standing up to anything the other factions can field and living.
