I'd like to see some sort of mechanic that allows a faction to spend resources to call in Gretchens, Scouts, ect. Have a skill tree where you can put points into summoning and controlling these type units. Personally, I think it's extremely controversial for a MMO/MMOFPS(Massive being the common theme) 40K game to only see "heroes vs heroes", ie players playing as hero type classes, without seeing the endless masses of minions each faction sends into battle according to lore.
If they do go ahead and make Guardians playable, they should make it a branching class system. Like you can wield a shuriken pistol and chain sword or shuriken catapult to get you into the feel of melee or ranged. People can then choose to pick up melee specific classes for the guardians or ranged combat and then go from there. Dire Avengers are the middle ground, being an upgrade from guardians with a longer range. OR, if people are liking THIS idea, have guardians take a heavy weapons platform that you can choose, but you have to stay with that one. I don't know if anyone likes that idea, but hell.
