Ok, so if we proceed on discussion, I have recently played two matches on Olipsis. Both we won, 1 as defenders against orks, other as attackers against chaos. As you see in first screenshot, you can do pretty well on "babysitting tacticals" and "strafing around the point" - it gives most xp in the field and most of the time highest amount of kills. Because the whole game is about coming to the point - killing enemies near the point, helping your team, capturing the point, defending it. Thats the key to victory and those who play to win, do this every time they get in to the match If we speak about JPA vs GA, the second screenshots pictures it very well. PG brother with 27 kills was acting on the wide field, taking dangerous threats, scouting and playing mostly solo - this is the role of JPA, strike quick, hard and retreat. Playing JPA gave him more kills, but 50% less xp than me. I played in tight squad with my team. My point - both classes are useful in good hands and fits to different play styles. And to say that JPA is god and GA is useless is a sin So, fresh players, if you read this thread: play shield bro if you want and do not hesitate - it is a very good asset in SM armoury.
I tear that ass up as Power Sword +damage mod +life steal and plasma pistol. I run it with heal pack and grenade. Can't remember what shit I use for survivability. But I'm pretty sure I use artificer armor. I prefer this over JPA because ground dodging is alot more my style. I get in, start combat and if the enemy thinks he is save backing up, I let em have it with the blue hit plasma. This is my go to setup versus eldar. Versus CSM I prefer to go Storm Bolter or heavy Bolter lately. I really hate fighting CSM in melee now.
Thank you Brothers, Last night I worked on combat some more and I even manage to get some kills in. I think the big issues was I was not using the Control Key to lock my target so I can stay in the fight. Things I picked up: - Positioning is everything. I found that if I position well enough I could move my target where I want them. Sometimes even moved them about so they were open up to be shot at or attacked from another side. - I tend to do better on defense then I did on the attack. Since I also have a Dev marine as well, I know they are high prized targets for Xenos and Traitors. So, I stand guard...looking for the enemy that jumps in to try and score easy kills. I might loose one battle brother but I save others. - Use my shield to protect others when they are hit or when the Brother Apothecary is tending to the wounded and dying. - Grenades bounce, manage to distract a Reaper around a corner when I bounced one to them. - In the heat of a fight, do not waste time to execute the dying. Just a few things I picked up, still learning. One question I do have, if I go to my knee and have my shield up to provide temp cover. Can another brother marine stand behind me and fire over me? Right now I am working with a Shield and Chainsword(damage mod). Seems to do okay. Just got Krak Grenades, not sure if they work well against transports/tanks.
