Okay, for a few days been trying to get the hang of Ground assault. But, not faring to well. Running Shield and Chainsword for now til I can get something better. Just can't seem to get the hang of the close combat or even make it to cc as I got gunned down to easily or when I do get to it...I get my power armored butt handed back to me.
People keep trying to convince me the storm shield has a point. I fail to see how. CSM have Mark of Slaanesh to help close the gap or Mark of Khorne to keep them alive longer during the brawl; the shield accomplishes neither. Your role as Ground Assault at the moment is basically to babysit tacticals so they can cap the point for you, then run in circles around the point so the enemy can't interrupt. Or, grab a power fist and hunt vehicles
In terms of raw damage, yes. A power fist, however, can prevent a vehicle from shooting, and is better at killing any crewmen who don't sneak up on you
You are very wrong here. I usually get like 30 kills per match on my GA. But it needs a time to practise - learn to roll away and charge heavy attacks right after. Position yourself properly. Never ever start attacking with fast attack. And so on. Its like 101 tip how to be useful as GA and GA is the only reason why SM holds against CSM. The understanding of the class usefulness will come in time - it's not newb friendly class, at the moment P.S. With the life steel on weapon, GA is by far strongest SM class.
You're describing a JPA there, not a Shieldbro. The Shield isn't actually accomplishing anything, your melee weapon is.
I'm really happy to find this post - it encourages me to play this class further. Till now I thought it's easy mod and played bolter mostlt. But after seeing such threads I feel I can really contribute to our faction in playing shield Bro
