Honestly... if you don't like to the lore you don't need read the books or play the game And for the record Draigo ain't the only "Mary Sue" person in the lore.
This true, but most of his lore is so stupid now its sad. Ben Counter did an amazing job on the omnibus ,Ward just made them silly. I honestly wish they could completely retcon all his crap out of 40K.
Oh I hear you with the omnibus... it's awsome but this is what we have and so be it. Complaining about it doesn't realy help and generaly it's not as bad as people really say if you look at the big picture.
For me it is i have been into 40K Since late Rogue Trader days seeing them go from what they were up to the end of the Deamon hunters codex/omnibus to what they are now sickens me .I used to like them alot and still want too but there lore is gradually being made worse and worse from wards codex to alot of the new books as they have had to fall inline with Wards brain dump.
you need to realize that the brain dump is just not wards. Hes not the sole man responsible for the codex. GW has to approve all the stories writen and Ward is not the same as GW So better just to addjust to the things that are coming and complain less. Might be that they resurrect the emperor soon Don't get me wrong cause I have been a fan for 10 years for now so I have seen old codexes also and know how some people feel but in my own opinion the hate towards the lore is just over exaggerated. People can like Lore without caring much for Mary Draigo. The thing isn't just that Draigo is a mary sue it's that he's the zenith of a Mary Sue; he's the absoloute exemplar of this within the lore and that's what makes him so bad as the dev team had a MASSIVE opportunity with the GK to build on the glory, prestige and mystery of the original enigmatic GK of 3rd ed, however the rolled out what we have now which just seems so saturated with attention seeking and begging for acceptance that it makes the GK feel like a comical spoof faction rather than the great warrior mages they were in the Omnibus. If you believe there are other Mary Sues in the game please list them though remember that a Mary Sue isn't just a powerful character a Mary sue is a character who: [*]Is ridiculously powerful by providence of being excellent to the point of absoloute perfection in all areas. [*]Possess no actual real flaws of any kind i.e. "Feels guilt over his past" or "Is too determined to win" [*]The flaws he does have make absoloutely no difference to his ability to "perform" in any way or shape [*]Is clearly an attempt of author gratification/wish fulfillment where the writer is trying to live vicariously(?) through the character.
Sorry I don't like walls so no offence intented or anything else. Well Draigo is Draigo and theres nothing we can do about it can we. We can accept that there is a man in the warp killing deamons or we can stick our heads in to sand and say you bloody bastards why did you spoil our lore. And for the marry sue part... heres one Cypher (though I love this one) - 10k old man - never truly been captured, hunted every second - wins always in his own way - master strategist, gunner and what not Yet hes one of the best characters ever created into this lore. Now I'm sure I can come up with others if I do my reseach properly. The thing is that people should just stop nagging and accept the lore as it is. Who cares if there is a man in the warp killing deamons or that if there are "mary sue" caracters in the lore.
Wall? it was like a 6 line paragraph..... The GK did have some potential like Garren Crowe I think he's called? the idea of a pure holy warrior contending with a dark and sentient blade fighting for control of his soul is while not the most original idea definitely a solid and immensely interesting story, regretably gems like him are over looked and over shadowed by the horrors of Draigo though I've posted my theories on Draigo earlier in this thread so I won't go into detail on them again. Cypher is definitely a character of questionable status but is far from a Mary Sue by the virtue of he possess both actual flaws and the character lacks absoloute perfection in all area. He is a low key character even if more prominent from the outside looking in . People aren't nagging nor refusing to accept the Lore and simply accepting the Lore no matter it's content is how you end up with products like World of Warcraft. People care deeply for the lore and will want to see it at it's best not settle for low quality product and that's natural simply accepting whatever lore that is released as...well acceptable is a form of apathy that shows a lack of caring fore the quality, prestige and standing of the rich and time honoured setting of the 41st Millenium.
Relax my Battle Brothers, there are alternatives : I enjoyed reading about Rex's deeds durring the siege of Vraks with G.K along side him. Btw, I really gave my best to give you all the answers concerning Draigo without a bias. He is what he is and unless new crew takes the helm regarding his storyline I guess we're stuck with the official fluff 'till further notice. So just chill, I recommend (who hasn't) that you read "Daemon Hunters Codex" and only then can you read the new G.K. Codex and see what is this all about regarding G.K. I've read Ben Counter's G.K. Omnibus and it really is damn heretically good!
nope. we dont. we dont awknowledge the fact that it exists. it doesnt. its just make believe. draigo never did any of this shit, and hes just some legend made up by the grey knights. you seriously think he isn't the worst thing? you seriously believe that its relevant that he isn't the only mary sue person? nobody else has gone and carved something into a daemon primarchs heart by themself. just.. i'm not even going to try to argue. Matt ward is terrible, and no shit GW had to approve that. everybody knows GW is terrible as well. they made something incredible, then they started to want money. they make good decisions now and then, and they have some quality writers, but the prices...the hiring of matt ward...part of me wants GW go out of buisiness so that some competent company can take over with the warhammer license. you seriously....i cant. just. i cant.
