  1. Out of the 2 i would choose The Emperors Gift. And if possible read
http://www.blacklibrary.com/warhammer-40000/Ravenor-The-Omnibus.html before. It will help a bit, not much but you will understand in the end , no spoilers from me though ;)

That was the original, through Ward it got changed. And even if you don't like Ward's stuff (Whoever does, lolz!) it is still lore and must be therefore respected. If you like to or not.

  3. I ordered it in hardback edition, the Ravenor trilogy is in my list too, because the Eisenhorn trilogy was kick ass. I don't know that I will read the Ravenor series őr not before The Emperor's Gift. Anyway, thank you :)

    1. It was obvious it would happen
    2. yaaay for a parody that doesn't belong into a proper discussion about the background of the grey knights
    3. bad summary of the grey knights, as draigo especially became super-OP after what Ward has done, also he is the chapter master of the Grey Knights [in basic] and therefor truly is that mighty. It is like saying "Why is Tigurius or Mephiston so overpowered Psykers".

Not really. Alot of really weird and stupid stuff can be categorized as official lore, that is just the nature of it when you have such a long lasting and vast universe like WH40k - it will have gone through alot of different writers and will have had input from alot of different minds, so naturally, amongst all the brilliance, alot of stupid sneaks itself into the universe.

If we took everything that is "canon" at face value, the WH40k universe would be freaking horrible. But we dont. What matters are the core concepts and values this universe portrays, which are really really great and interesting. We, as observants of the universe, have the job to filter out the really bad stuff and let it not distract us from how great of a concept WH40k actually is. We have always done that and we are not the only once either: The reason why games like Dawn of War and Space Marine work in terms of lore and are so beloved among the fans is that they dont take everything at face value: They reflect the universe and its core at its entirety - as beeing more than the sum of its parts and how fans imagine it in their minds. And noone can take that away from WH40k, no matter how badly Matt Ward screws up (btw, I dont hate everything Matt Ward has written, he has some sensible ideas, too, I guess).
  7. WHY ARE YOU THE ONLY ONE WHO SEEMS TO REALISE THIS?

It's bad enough that their "secret base" is in the sector that also has Holy Terra - you know, the most well-known planet in the Imperium.

I said that a few times too and defended that, thank you <.<

The problem is you have to deal with it. If you and the fans decide what is "Canon" and what is not, then the fan-fics can be all turned into reality too!

You gotta deal with some stuff that is now part of the history and the ways of how things work, everything else is pure ignorance. The Necron-Blood Angel bro-fist event is lore, bam, it happened. Unquestionable. It is written in the codex and approved by GW and therefore occured.

I have talked to many TT players in the past and I often hear in particular events "That never happened for me" well problem is: According to lore it did!

So that Necrons are now Pharaoh-like and that the Silent King collects his army to kick-ass the Nids as otherwise they don't have any hope to retrieve their biological bodies must be accepted among the whole Dynasty system and several changes.... Like the Centurions for example.

I understand what you try to say, but if GW cannot tell us what is to be taken Canon and what not, then who can please?

Dawn of War has Canon parts, as Dawn of War 1, Winter Assault and Dark Crusade are canon (in Dark Crusade it was the Imperial Guard winning I believe and in Winter Assault it was the storyline when you played the IG)

Soulstorm has in basic no Canon parts and if then also IG victory, not sure. It was too crazy and more "a fun thing" for Relic to get an expansion out and somehow include Sororitas and DE.

Dawn of War 2, Chaos Rising and Retribution Blood Ravens ending are canon (on Chaos Rising I think with the techmarine turning heretic, not sure).

On the prior videogames Iam not sure how much canon they are (Squad Command, Chaos Gate, Fire Warrior, etc.)

But anyway, What is canon and what is not is with most "Hardcore fans" a thing of opinion and feeling, I do not like some stuff either, but still be like "That's what GW decided so we gotta live with it." It doesn't mean we have to completely accept and hail what they did, but we have to deal that it is part of the lore and stories. Of course we can complain at GW and hope they change some things in future editions. But until then, we gotta deal of how things worked.

It was the same with nids being able to travel the warp and then not anymore since Codex 4th edition I believe it was. Or with the Super Bright Colors in Edition 2 which got changed to more grim and organized colors afterwards. Stuff changes, but until it is not changed, it is part of the universe.

I think you missed my point, but I still respect your opinion.

  10. Someone who cares about the universe and values what is within it. Not simply how much money it can make them.
