Now I know the game isn't confirmed to actually be coming to Xbox One and Playstation 4 yet, so I was going to wait until it was before I mentioned this, but I decided against it so it could be put out there before development got way into everything. Also feel free to move this post because I'm not sure if I should've put it in the UI or Technical threads. But anyway, on PC there's the option to change graphical settings to get the game to run/look better. With the communication with fans, I was wondering that if the game comes to consoles, if we can also get the ability to change graphical settings, to a point. Now in no way whatsoever do I want to diminish the skill of the artists and all their hard work, but when I play games on my PC, my PERSONAL preference is to have my textures and particle effects at the highest possible settings, and lower other settings as needed to achieve 60 fps. Of course other people will have their own personal preferences, such as the highest possible lighting and/or shadows, but I was wondering if it would be possible to add this into the console versions. The reason I ask is because I don't go into console games expecting everything to look as good as PC games on Ultra - I play console because I prefer the Xbox controller and the ease of in-game and party chat - but I feel that everything suffers a little. Playing all the games I have on my console, I alsways wish I could get my textures and particles to look equal to PC on Ultra, and then throw in some AA, and worry about everything second. Not that I don't appreciate it, I would just like to be able to choose. TL;DR Changeable graphical settings on consoles like on PC P.S. I know there are probably going to be people who just say to get the game on PC, but if the game IS going to be on consoles with one big connected server so that I have the same account/characters on PC and Console, I would like the option to pick whichever I want whenever I want (like if I'm at home with one device and on the road with another). Thanks for taking the time to read through this
I don't imagine we'll see adjustable settings for consoles anytime soon. Unlike PC's, all consoles have identical hardware so the developers will just find the highest settings that still have acceptable frame rates and make that the default for everyone. You could always hook your PC up to a large TV and use a game pad though.
Exactly - settings on console are usually optimized to run at the best framerate using the best visual. There might be a few options here and there though, but nothing that would change drastically how the game performs.
