What's even better: it's Square Enix. Maybe Behaviour's vision has encouraged them to continue to push for cross platform gaming? Who knows, Squeenix could finally unite gamers- and EC maybe the first, or second, game to do this.
I believe one of the latest responses from the devs is pretty much this. 'We are in talks with Sony and Microsoft'.
I really doubt that they'll do cross-platform for a twitch based game. Maybe between consoles, but not between consoles and PC. Why? Here's why. It's been tried before and it seemed to fail pretty horribly.
Plenty of people say controllers are at least as accurate if not more than mouse of keyboards (lol), so yeah looking forward to play against (and with) console players
Kind of a good thing that consoles may be involved. But I just hate the idea that PC version could be dumped down so that consoles could run it smoothly...
Hey that's a start/encouraging. The more pressure on Microsoft and Sony the better I guess, though I'll remain in the sceptic camp until cross-platform actually happens.
While there's no doubt shooting is more accurate, close combat shouldn't be at any real disadvantage if you use the bumper for the main melee attack (frees up your thumb for looking around). Also, wtf is up with the PC controls for SM, I played it on PC once at a friends (I play SM on ps3) and the control key was used to aim, which was pretty awkward. I assume you can remap it, but it felt REALLY unnatural for a default control scheme.
That's probably because we are used to use right mouse button to aim (aim down sights in fps games) and in SM it was the melee attack.
