Massive server problems? But queues would be no problem any more and they had such a giant playerbase, funding would be safe for more than a year, leaving enough time to unfuck a lot of things.
This is called wishfull thinking ....and that was what got us into this kinda mess in the first place to begin with .
I know there are people in here that complain about legit stuff, sugesting and all that but I disagree its the majority. Still you have a lot of good points. You are one in here thats actually worth replying, really. Some of the "well know" figures that complain in here already showed whats their objetive is and its not even worth reading what they say anymore. Frustration with health issues, financial breakdowns and life in general seems to be the main reason for some to spend their days in here venting hate. Its sad really but in the case of these the best thing to do is to avoid.
From what I can tell, it was actually the community interaction that killed this game in the end. Plenty of games have suffered the same kinds of catastrophic setbacks as EC has and worse, some losing whole devteams, changing engines and utterly changing the fundamentals of the original project. Eternal Crusade however couldn't do this in the dark and had made promises that the game had to at least try to keep. I do believe Eternal Crusade could have been salvaged as an excellent 60 vs 60 large scale shooter had it been given time and had it not been damned by it's own promises that they simply could not keep with the tech available. It's not at all hard to see that with more time and less distractions, EC could have been a great game since the improvements that the team have made in such a short time is actually impressive. Making it all the more sad that the game was "pushed out to die" because certain parties got cold feet because of negative review campaigns. Hopefully this will be a heeded cautionary tale for developers, that keeping your customers informed and a part of the development process is noble but sadly flawed thing as some things are better done behind closed doors in peace without having to deal with angry customers.
