What modern times are these? Even when females were allowed into combat arms in the US Army only 1 even applied/passed. Modern day standards around the world place women in urban/espionage operations. Even when trench warfare was done and women were in the services, they applied for supportive purposes and did not partake in the actual combat except under strenuous circumstances (IE. Molly Pitcher) which placed them away from the males in normal situations. The feminist ideology that women are equal to men in respects to bodily composition and physical aptitude is just false. It's unfortunate that mother nature is sexist, but the world isn't fair and genetics are less so. Of course, that's the IRL reason why females aren't necessarily allowed in grunt-style warfare. The lore reason is simple. For the past 40 years Games Workshop has kept the original lore that there are only male Space Marines. The Sisters of Battle were created to appeal to the "female" aspect of the Astartes, which should have silenced a lot of this. There are no female Space Marines, period.
If new players continue to spam the same topics on why there isn't a female Marine option, then we should create a simple sticky topic just for them that explains the reason why and then begin insta-deleting the spam. And if they don't care about the 40k lore or whatever? Too bad for them. They can go play a game that isn't set in the 40k universe if it bothers them that much. No. New players are just gonna have to learn the lore. If they don't like it? Sorry. This is the Warhammer 40,000 universe. It grinds my gears when non-fans come in and start asking to change established 27-year-old 40k lore for silly reasons like "I want a girl character." But what grinds them even more are some people calling us fanatic butthurt fanboys just because we happen to give a shit about protecting the story of this beloved universe from being butchered by outsider non-fans. Meh.
I'd say cut down on the negativity and lets look at ways we can welcome female players to the community, rather than being narrow minded ass hats. Instead of hating on "non fans" how about thinking of ways to make them fans while staying true to lore? You really don't want to turn away potential players. Players = $$... which = more good stuff for EC in the long run. There's also the community and social aspects, and the games reputation traveling via word of mouth. How do you think all the indigent comments will come off to a 40K newbie reading this thread? On the opposite side of the coin, all those pining on and on about gender equality in the 40K universe, are you kidding me?? There's a happy medium that can be found. What female players could hope for is for each Faction to get a new sub faction some time post launch, or possibly as one of the stretch goals the Founders Program could fund prior to launch. And one of those sub faction's being the Sisters of Battle. http://warhammer40k.wikia.com/wiki/Adepta_Sororitas http://wh40k.lexicanum.com/wiki/Adepta_Sororitas#.U8_FZ7Hb7YQ Personally I'd much rather see and additional sub faction... per faction, than see Behavior try to do an entire new 5th Faction. They really need to see how the 4 faction set up is going to function. There will no doubt have to be many tweaks and changes to game mechanics in order to make the 4 faction game work as intended, without the added complications and inevitable cycle of tweaks, buffing, nerfing, changes of core game mechanics caused by adding a 5th faction.
Its not just lore breaking, its balance breaking. Its basically two factions becoming once, doubling the players, doubling the power. Which then makes all other factions look like ants, I mean the space marine faction already outnumbers the others currently, the last thing we need is combining two factions to make them one Disagree and throw all the "fanboy" remarks you want. Twont change a thing laddy

So in conclusion i would like to say Everyone (Male, Female, Gay, Hetro, Bi, Black, White, Red, Yellow, Green and so on) is welcome to play anything Warhammer 40.000 related with me and my Space Wolves pack. (You don't need to play as Eldar just because you are Female)
