Well in truth is misogynists tend to be both a fictional projection of males in video games and the industry which is projected onto it by feminists who wish to shove their agenda down everyone's throats (and unfortunately succeeding somewhat). While at the same time they do actually exist, but you'd be surprised (or not) who makes up the majority of them... The vast majority of misogynists involved in the community are in fact members of the "old guard" in the industry itself (a.k.a developers and corporate types which have been around for 30+ years who are conservative and have a misconception that most gamers are male and they have to sell products with a male focused audience to make a profit, that's the only reason why), neckbeards and 12 year old boys; Both of which hold grievances towards females for different reasons. Male kids due to... well pubity not hitting yet and "girls got Cuties!" and neckbeards due to feeling rejected by females (because they don't seem to get it's their hygean or lack of and their general negative, blame others and highly opinionated attitude which makes them unattractive, not how they look). So instead they blame females rather then themselves for their problems. As for the feminists, they like to convince this notion that males are misogynists because normal people openly oppose the idea of them wanting to aggressively shove their agenda onto us and instead of wanting to represent females in games, they wish to replace male characters and have influence over the decision making of game developers. Which is in effect a threat to the integrity of the quality of games, so naturally people will feel threatened and oppose it, in return the feminists react in an almost fascist like nature and just make generalizations about males in the community and the industry being misogynists. In reality the vast majority of Game Developers couldn't give a crap if their fanbase is male or female, they only care about the fanbase, they are not sexist. And same for most gamers, they don't care about male or female disunity, they only care about their own little world, their own group of friends and having fun and relaxing after a long day of actually working. I'll tell you one thing about most people with agendas, they don't have busy enough lives or work hard enough, because to have time to develop ideas of lunacy means they got a lot of spare time on their hands to do so.
I generally agree with your statement, though I doubt your doubt about most "gamers" (a term which I dislike) being male. If you count in every stupid Facebook game, then you might actually get to the 55% female playerbase ever so often promoted by radical feminists (or people who abuse rational feminism for their own financial goals), but video games as an actual hobby rather than as a little past time between chatting with friends and whatnot imho is still a largely male field (with some MMORPGs being the exception due to their social factor). Whether or whether not this is a laudable state is open for discussion.
I believe it comes down to a cultural thing to do with leisure time pursuits. Most video games don't appeal to females because they were brought up in environments that exposed them to cultural tendencies to pursue or be interested in what society says females should be interested in. If anything it's the media which is sexist, not video games. But that's a whole another beast to tackle... The more I look at it, most feminists come off as whiny immature people who bang their fists against a window screaming for attention and because they themselves decided not to fit in with social norms seek to change the perceived world around them because they don't like it. Well I believe change should start at the ground level, rather than a focus on the video game culture, but a focus on our own culture as a whole, instead of toting around "females should be represented in games, males should not be sexist." They can start by not dating alpha males and telling media to stop making female eccentric cartoons for female kids that brainwash them into thinking they are special and delicate little snowflakes which should be submissive. Or a notion that females can exploit males... A shallow "fight the power" attitude only annoys people, it doesn't represent a notion for positive change, quiet the opposite.
It's both, really. /pol/ gave /v/ the idea that funding a project by 'real' feminists who have previously been attacked by Zoe and her army would make them untouchable to the bad PR they're getting, and put many SJW writers in a pinch. They're splitting the feminists up, and it's working.
To divide and to conqueror. To turn the hysterical masses against each other so they devour themselves like a pack of wild dogs.
It's nice to know that the "good guys" still make up the majority of game developers; Despite the toxic element. Also, testament to how 4chan operates. "I hope in your stumbling around you do not wake the dragon 4chan." - Londo Mollari But as always the outcome is usually positive and to the benefit to all and at the detriment of the real criminals. Also as ironic as it sounds, the character they came up with reminds me of a girl I used to know, in fact she is exactly like her, creepy...
You think twitter is bad? They're shadowbanning people on Reddit as we speak. I think the only place where you can even talk about this without getting banhammered right now is 4chan...and...well, the EC forums it seems. Hell, there's even physical proof that Ms Quinn instructed Reddit Mods to blacklist anything related to her and to deal out bans. Curiously enough, the mods didn't want to comply at first, but then got word from the admins that they better do it or else.
Well, not just the EC forums, there are alot of gaming forums talking about this, Internet Aristocrat is supposed to be making another video and Yahtzee briefly mentioned it in one of his drown out videos
