Thought I'd make somewehere for people to put the issues they've had while using a gamepad to play Eternal Crusade. It may not be the most popular option but it's still an option dammit! Personally I have two right now. 1. If you are aiming at an angle greater or less than 180 degrees and begin moving without touching the right analog again your aim will start resetting to 180 degrees after a few seconds. This happens regardless of whether you are on foot or in a vehicle with the vindicator being a prime example. 2. We can't toggle scopes without a keyboard. There are plenty of buttons that are inactive when scoped in, meaning on of them could be given the additional function of toggling the scope on a weapon. Like LB while scoped in as scoping stops you from throwing any sort of grenade. But yeah, those are the two issues I currently have with the state of gamepad. If you have any of your own feel free to leave them here.
Read title as GamePLAY gripes, was going to post about OHK weapons but yeah my brain started working before i got too into my post.
Been using game pad since closed Alpha and I don't think its in too bad a state, its definitely usable and its made me do a darn sight better than what i would have been with a mouse and keyboard. My gripe with it however is using the quick chat responses which proves somewhat temperamental with what you pick as is interacting with the squad. On that you can't reassign squad leader if you don't want it via the game pad you have to briefly use the mouse and keyboard, also issuing orders as a squad leader is also very unintuitive, its been over a year and I still haven't committed it to memory. Also the quick chat responses I mentioned earlier sometimes when you try to issue a response like say you want health, sometimes it comes out as 'I need ammo' even though you did not choose that option on the directional pad. But its a minor gripe at best, the game is actually very playable on game pad.
Thanks. I think it's alright too. It just has some outlying issues that I'd love to see solved. Incidentally I've never had the "I need ammo" thing happen. What gamepad do you use?
Another more minor one is when you're in a vehicle and try to use the comms rose. Using any vertical selection will switch your seat in the vehicle, a right pain if you're trying to get a gunner in your tank and you end up on the gun when saying "get in"
I use an Xbox 360 controller with a USB plug in built into the back instead of the wireless version. it happens rather sporadically and it is rather odd because 'i need health is the complete opposite direction to 'I need ammo' yet it happens.
Strange. I use an xbox one controller because my 360 controllers always formed a bit of a drift on the analog sticks after 3-4 months. Still, can't say I remember it happening with my old pad.
Developed a drift after 3-4 months? I hope you mean a drift of dirt otherwise what have you been doing to your Xbox controller man!? I've been using mine since this game first entered alpha and it has yet to develop any issues besides coats of dirt that I rub off with my fingers during off time, otherwise it still works fine.
That's nothing. Used my controllers so much the RB button started no longer registering. And this was multiple controllers, fresh off the shelf. I play several hours a day near every day and I try to be as delicate as I can with it but since it happened to three of them I decided to go with the more solid looking xbone controller. So far so good 6 months in and no drift.
