Hi, I have had no issues with the game until the most recent patch, after applying the update my game client will no longer launch. I have uninstalled and reinstalled the game via Steam, full driver/system updates and restart, checked event viewer which has absolutely nothing, do not receive any error message, the game simply fails to launch. If I could launch the game without Steam for testing that would be really helpful, I work in IT and I have to say, to have the software fail to launch with absolutely no way around it and no error handling is atrocious, I can't even begin troubleshooting cause I have absolutely nothing to go off......so effin' frustrating. Edit. Solution was repairing Visual C++ x86 and x64 Redistributable and restarting.
Some of the [Game won't launch] problems (I had one as well) are fixed after you restart Steam. If that does not work, try veryfying the integrity of your game files. Good luck!
Hmm... you meet the minimum requirements, right? (8GB Ram...) As a final attempt, try reinstalling the game... :| If that does not work, you may just have to create a support ticket (give your full PC specs).
well, since i was playing normally before update #18, yes, i do meet the requirements. i fiddled around the folder and tried to bypass steam to run it, it finally gave me an error message, apparently i am missing a .dll file (that wasnt required before, or somehow vanished from my computer). amusingly, its the same .dll that was missing from another program i was fiddling with (gog.com Galaxy) and it requires me to do a windows update, am updating as i type this, will report if it works out.
I tried applying that same update but it tells me it's already installed, next suggestion was remove the windows update and reinstall it so I'm trying that next. Edit. Error is 'EternalCrusadeClient.exe - System Error The program can't start because api-ms-win-cr-runtime-l1-1-0.dll is missing from your computer. Try reinstalling the program to fix this problem.' Google says reinstall Visual C++ redistributable but I get the already installed message when installing that and there are many legacy versions installed. Edit2. Ok that did it, repair on both x86 and x64 versions of Visual C++ redistributable via add/remove programs then system restart. Launching into game with no issues now.
