Game Ui/hud, What Do You Think?

I was hoping we'd get to walk around our ship like in warframe, and walk up to specific modules to access different features like this (its quick, 1 minute vid):

I'd like to walk around my guild's strike cruiser like this, and if not that, then at least my own quarters for loadout. It'd be cool if the members of the guild each had their assigned quarters and when they were logged off that room became locked and the dataslate reads, "XRuinX lies in prayer before the coming battle", 1 of 10 preset responses we can customize to leave. When theyre present, they can bring their guildmates in.

I understand this is all early concept but I want to mention my concerns early because I know now's the chance to before its too late.
    On UI race differences:
Space Marines: I think Space Marine did a pretty good job at it but they didnt venture far from it. I agree with cupcake, the Alien-80's tech is what I expected from the beginning. I really liked how the HUD has everything angled towards the center, it looks really nice and works perfect with the way size adjustment is set up.
Chaos: I liked how the path for chaos was "on skin" but it sure didnt look like it. I must have missed something. I hope it ends up being on some bound slaves back. For the HUD, I dont like how they took the same design that Space Marine gave it. There's barely chaos feel to it, it just looks like a orange version of space marines. How about a semi-transparent red that is textured with static, to look like the HUD in their helmet went on the fritz and froze.
Eldar: They need to be the futuristic looking faction and they just look like a color swap too. Also I'm sure that will be hard to read in-game.
    Orks: NOT Orky

Overall I dont like how similar the different races UI's look to each other. From the HUD it could be more transparent in the inside with harder edges.

I understand this is all early concept but I want to mention my concerns early because I know now's the chance to before its too late.
I'm perfectly fine with something different from what we normally see!

what i'm wondering. are you gonna play as space marines? from what viewpoint are you judging the HUD?

When i watched the stream, i imagined me playing an imperial fists marine. thats, when i felt, that they nailed it.
then they switched to chaos on the flash.

i love the UI direction, to be honest, i go against the "overly" simplistic direction (ofc only in my oppinion), some of you argue for. obviously imperial fists are not in the game (yet), i'm gonna play chaos and eldar. i love the UI they showed, and unexpectedly its my favourite twitch so far, but i don't want it for my races, like at all!

at the same time, i don't want any substantial change for the SM. (i really wanna keep the commanders portrait at the upper right corner)

Your character's head on the upper left screen displaying their emotion, followed by a large X and a number, usually confined to the percentage of times the player controller fails to efficiently succeed at the goals the game administers the player. Each time the player controlled character suffers lethal damage, they immediately die. The number alongside the X on the upper left decreases and the player's character's floating head assumes a masque of disgust.
When the number beside the X reaches a negative numerical value, e.g. any numerical value below zero, then the player's game ends. The game then immediately assimilates the player's system UI upon the program's cancellation and prevents the user from interacting with the interface, all input devices cease to function and the interface is lit with a text in large, clear, visible font that reads, "YOU LOSE". The player's system is then dismantled using a rootkit virus and permanently inaccessible. And then explodes. All of the player's accounts and information relating to Eternal Crusade are deleted, with the exception of the user's personal information, which is archived in a private server. The authorities are immediately contacted and the aforementioned player is reported to said authorities.

    Any questions?
  4. Indeed.

I also kinda hope we'll get to have a place for guildmates like Clan Dojo in warframe. But more customizable... and a bit less oriented on making people build some unnecessary rooms just in order to build more. WF dojo building is a bit redundant in a way.

I have no idea what you're trying to say. But after reading that line I could only think of the almighty DOOM HUD. Behold the emotion of the greatest guardsman the galaxy will ever know! His hatred and contempt of the invading daemons is strong.

In seriousness, the ammo display on the right shows ammo for your weapons even when not equipped which I think is a nice feature that most games don't do.

  6. I agree, ATM the map did look like it was very front focused and not all around (halo) which is ok. But id rather there be a radar only for players who take special gear. In WH40K SM flanking is very very critical and if players had a radar that would be very difficult to do. Surprising a guy in halo often just means he didn't see you till you showed up on his radar, you turn to shoot each other and jump-strafe to victory. In SM when a guy surprises you, you are at a huge disadvantage and i want to preserve that feel.

In Livestream #10 @18:20 (thanks to crusader Aka for making the twitch episode summary thread complete with timestamps!) they demonstrated the minimap. Players can adjust the zoom of the minimap to show more or less surrounding elements. It only shows enemies that are spotted and spotting works automatically so if players manage to flank and not be seen they will be undetected and thus extremely dangerous. Maybe we'll have access to equips that reduce spot time too.
As for radar only for special gear I have seen that discussed a number of times. Generally crusaders said that if you wanted the minimap (some even including all HUD elements) you would need to wear a helmet. I disagree with that and the take a specific piece of gear. Just an unnecessary complication, load out points should go to other things and minimap helps with navigation as well as team coordination.

I don't think the minimap and sound/sight detection is a big deal right now. But in battles of 50v50, 100v100, 500v500... it'll be an eyesore of dots. If you zoom it out the minimap will look like a child's attempt at pointillism and have no use whatsoever. I'll be interesting to learn more about the system.

  9. If the mini map only shows stuff in your frontish field of view im ok with it marking targets your squad has spotted. I still prefer squad mates be forced to communicate manually rather than auto updating the mini map.

That's awesome. I had a flashback on everyone of those scenes you posted. Sitting in the dark, playing Doom/2 and crapping myself every time a distant trap door opened or a Pinky growled

I think the 'commander' will most likely be either the NPC issuing orders for the Primary/Secondary objective prompts or it will be the Strike-Force/Squad leader's avatar popping up when they use comms. That would be pretty sweet if it's a 2D representation of their avatar.

Btw, if we ever get Tau, their HUD should be something like this :D
