I don't doubt that Eternal Crusade will continue to be worked on and improved after launch. It's an MMO, constant updates and new things after release are essentially mandatory. I also don't doubt the game will actually improve after launch, and eventually become really, really good. And I don't doubt that they'll eventually deliver on everything they're still saying will happen eventually, when it becomes feasible to make it happen. What I do doubt, is that the game will be popular at all. Because, well, when a game is released, people kind of expect it to be in a state that's ready for release. And every reviewer on the Internet who shares their review with their audience is going to be sharing an experience that's not ready for release. And most of the people watching those videos and reading those articles simply aren't going to look into the reality of the situation. They're going to base their decision to even try the game on what the reviewer shows them and tells them. And I strongly believe that what they're going to be shown and told is going to turn most of them away from even trying it. And, frankly, it'll take years to get any of those people to give the game a second chance. Just look at any MMO that had a bad launch but eventually got a really good game going and how long it took to get a large number of players. And look at how many simply withered and died before they could make something really good because they couldn't afford to keep going. And, well, an MMO kinda requires having a massive number of people playing it. It's literally the name of the genre.
Sorry but I disagree. Imo there is a group of haters. A lot of them don`t have game in library or even never had and are posting a tons of unreasonable posts why this is bad or how quick it will die. But there is also a group of "supporters" that are aslo deaf to any arguments. I remeber a lot of names from every group. Every extremes are bad. Problem is the community is split between those 2 factions just like there is no room for staying somewhere in between. On steam forum when I said anything good about the game backing it with some arguments I was called a "fanboy". When I said I don`t like something I was called "hater". So both sides are accusing the oposites being delusional and all are using insults as "arguments". Well I can`t argue with everything elso you posted. As ong as there will be cash they will keep on working and improving it. But I think that not many players who will be disapointed with game state at launch will give it second chance. They will post reviews, remove the game from library and go for other titles. I just don`t see someone who will start it on 23 and will shout "WTF? This is just damn shooter... boriiiing!!!" could sudenly at 2018 summer say "Hmmmm... this wasn`t so bad, perhaps I should give it a shot?". Also keep in mnid that in 2018 we could have new games based on newest technology and EC even if could get more interesting will be just aging game.
Generally speaking, when people hear that a game has actually improved hugely since launch, people are willing to give it a second try just to see what's new. At the least they'll look up recent gameplay videos to see all the new things. Then you might see large numbers starting to come in. It just takes a few years to get to the point where that starts happening.
After Gork and Mork a new ork God is born, hail to Nathork may his belly crush Orks enemy as the feet of the others.
I am not sure about this. The only games i returned to after a long time of not playing was the ones I enjoyed.
Well, maybe it'll get the ones who simply never tried it themselves to begin with and were going on what some Internet personality showed them.
I think both money and playerbase probably be what sets the future of the game. I think that launching in september both lead to not getting enough players as they would if they had delayed the launch in order to launch a more finished game, this also translates into money of course where more players also means more money.
i got faith in the game my self, the combat is slowly turning out even better then the counterpart third person shooters like warframe, i know pvp vs pve, but melle in EC simply feels more fun for some reason when its properly working. balance might need abit of work but if COD cansucceed i think this game can to
I'll admit that I haven't played any Call of Duty game in years, but could you maybe pick a better example of a well-balanced game? Because most of what I remember about CoD is getting killed by killstreak perks that were essentially free auto-kills on other players for a specific duration of time.
