While yes the mellee specialists should be able to offer better feedback ,we have to remember that mellee is used by all classes and that certain "defensive manauvers" are (or appear to be effective) with the lock on.
right but what i'm saying is don't make it an equipment choice make it a push button choice that everyone has without equipping specific weapons and improve its tracking capability so there is no "strategic advantage" for not using auto-lock for melee if anything auto-lock should make it easier to land hits especially if it will cost more lp in the future. but i think in general unlocked or locked should be equal and it should be player preference how to control, but right now an "unlocked assault" with a chain sword is certifiably better since they have such an easy time abusing the skate to get behind someone. Also presently since you cant tweak your builds once deployed you can't switch to autotarget if your having difficulty controlling for some reason especially if you arent a melee class since you cant in some cases do it at all. the devastator should be "allowed to look in the right direction" and "point their attacks and dbashes in the right direction" but they almost can't,really with thier attack speed and damage the fights still going to go to the melee but they should feel like they can participate even if its mostly illusory. On a side note i would like to see a lot more options for other classes for weapons like : tactical being able to choose chain sword, power sword, Combat shotgun, frag grenade launcher, etc. just in general the more points of possible balance we have the easier it will be to find a "good place" for the game, we wont have to worry as much about nerfing/buffing/temporarily disabling a specific weapons ability to take on a specific target if there are other neighboring options to take on the problem, it damages the games play ability less while that weapon is finding its place in the world. On the whole i think balance will actually get "easier" once more options are out and weapons begin to fall much more into their place and strata vs other weapons. for example what i mean is lets say hypothetically the Melta is doing too good, then it gets nerfed, and its not performing well enough, but we have shotgun with armor piercing rounds, and the stormbolter with ap rounds right next to it to help pick up the slack while it gets fixed. you will in general have a much healthier game even when one or more items are "out of whack".
Superfluous, unnecessary addition of complexity and the illusion of choice. Nearly everyone who melees uses it at some point, so it would still be as widely used as if it wasn't wargear.
I wouldn't take it. Especially if I had to choose between that and having a different piece of war-gear that increase toughness or damage or whatever.
Block was a thing before players had access to the game. Unfortunately it lead to even longer stalemates in melee vs melee than we have now, also more importantly, GW shot the idea down and since it is their IP they can do that. So it is out of the devs hands to allow block.
Hahaha. Okay man, enjoy trying to stay on someone as you're dodging and they're dodging. I'm sure you're just the most super 1337 meleer that we'll ever see, you don't even need your UI because you're just so amazingly skilled with your...almost THREE weeks experience of having the game! But for everyone whose farts DO stink, lock on is pretty essential. It might not be used constantly (partways because it's bugged and partways because it locks to the nearest guy whether that's who you want to attack or not), but it does get used a lot.
