    Gamemaster Design Plan


    This threads solemn purpose is to provide an easy, quick and compressed feedback for the developers, that is managed by compiling and gathering feedback from the community.

    Similar to the gamemodes/maps thread, this one is aimed towards collecting feedback from fellow Crusaders about our design ideas for the game. We also take NEW suggestions and welcome any constructive criticism and questions that we will try to answer. Give us the chance to improve upon our plans by telling us your ideas and your opinions on what has been done so far so that Eternal Crusade becomes a better experience for all of us!



    BEWARE: This list of features is NOT official, it is simply a list of ideas watched by the devs that may make it into the game if they get enough positive feedback. It is the very reason this thread exists, to make sure everyone is okay with our collective plans so the devs have an easier time of collecting community feedback. This will increase the chances of that feedback taking effect. As of now, this list is far from complete and is lacking a lot of things that players have proposed over the last few months. Therefore this post will keep changing as feedback grows and plans evolve so keep updated with the following roadmap!

    *CLARIFICATION AND CONTEXT FOR THOSE WHO WANT TO KNOW MORE ABOUT THIS* *START*

    This project is a means of helping developers collect feedback without them themselves having to continously check individual threads on the issues that the community has. Because that is, in most cases, very time consuming as they have to dig through pages of feedback, parts of which might be fully complete feedback and other parts causing huge disagreements on how to solve these issues which brings the developers into confusion.


    This system is aiming towards fixing that, It works simply by collecting information from various threads on forums and discussions on our Discord server on how to solve what bugs the community. That means - talking about those issues with a lot of people (Mostly from places easily accessable by the majority, for example Discord and Steam where you can brainstorm), setting up solutions (With the help of already proposed solutions on forum threads) and ultimately placing those suppoused solutions on the thread to be reviewed by everyone else and further reviewed to see if it needs any altering.


    A common question is: „Isn't that basically the same as posting a thread in the general forum about a specific issue and having devs look at it?“ Well, as you might know, there HAS been a lot of threads that present issues with the game in a very constructive manner and do have tons of pages of good feedback, a lot of which devs would read. But the issue comes because of the fact that they're long, so they need to be shortened so devs don't waste TOO MUCH development time reading them, AND because none of these threads are visited regularly by the majority of the community members (Forums, both steam and EC, are visited by only 2-3% of the community according to Nathan) so a lot of the solutions proposed by those people very likely will cause conflict between the other 97% of the community which doesn't visit the forums very often. That is where we come in.

    Lastly, to further clarify, we use discord, we use private messages AND we use the forums to gradually collect information in a way devs would, but since we have free time we can do it without sacrificing any development effectiveness. That means that whenever we see any issues that are talked about a lot on the forums, we talk to a lot of community members about it both on Discord, PM and in forums as previously mentioned, and see how we can solve it, as a community, by brainstorming and altering it if needed.

    Lastly, as of yet this thread definetly won't have every single solution to every single issue that has been stated by the community. But we are slowly advancing as the system has only just started so please bare with us!




    (LSM/CSM/ORKS) - Jump Packs
    • Remove the jump pack "windup" when starting a ground slam because it serves little to no purpose and feels clunky.

    (ELDAR)
    • Reaper Launcher changed to be primarily anti infantry unless specialized in anti vehicle by using mods, additional anti infantry specialization mods would be available at a large expense of anti vehicle and vice versa. Starshot has it's splash damage nullified (Optionally - uses different ammo poll than starswarm, having 20 ammo while starswarm has the same ammo as before) Starswarm should work similar to autocannon (Hitscan, windup instead of chargeup). The previously mentioned mods - Anti Vehicle Specialization - 1000 more damage to starshot, reduced fire rate and faster overheat for the starswarm. Anti Infantry Specialization - faster fire rate for starswarm and lower ammo count for starshot (About 5-10)

    (ELDAR)
    • Banshee's sprint fast attack should make the banshee leap 10 meters in the direction of the attack and make the scream give you double effective health up front for 5 seconds after the scream.

    (ELDAR)
    • Swooping hawks shouldn't get spotted automatically when they start flying, rather only by manual spotting.

    (CSM)
    • Instead of having a Necrotic Chainsword or a Manslayer (Khorne themed chainaxe) there should be universal God Mark weapons that grant specific bonuses depending on what god mark you have equipped. For Khorne you gain additional lifelleech, for Nurgle poison, Tzeentch a fire debuff and Slaneesh a debuff on the enemy that icnreases damage taken. It could be either a special weapon that allows the bonus attributed to your god or a special "Mark-Mod" that you have to equip with a weapon to gain a Gods favour for you weapon.

    I have some suggestions to keep the thread easier to read. Consider those examples, i havent gone through everything.

    Consider it some feedback to make it easier to acccess and providing a better overview


    (LSM/CSM) - JPA
    Jump assaults should be brought back to their original strength in terms of armor and health, while making their basic LP cost 450 (200 Jump pack, Chainsword, Boltpistol)
    Forcing you to ether take a power fist and a some acessory/war gear or only the JPA armor

    On top of that, make every jump assault class get wing clipped/fall down when they hit a ceiling to prevent them from being overused in close quarters/buildings, which is half the reason they were broken before.



    (LSM/CSM/ORKS) - JPA, Ground Slam
    Ground slams with jump assaults should cause supression for 3 seconds in a 10 meter radius while causing the same damage it does now in a radius of 4 meters. Characters struck by the effect are immune to the same effect for the next 10 seconds after it wears off to prevent spamming.

    IMO. That is very bad decision, we already have problem with people who spam light melee attacks being faster, then people who run. That would basically could remove banshee run from game, since it would be just sub-par to light attack spam.
    Also, what do you mean by 10 meters? We don't have any metric system inside of EC, so... I don't really know, about what distance you talk about. Also, clarify that bit about banshee scream, because now it seems, that it would just make banshee into a vet for 5 seconds.

    We HAVE a metric system (Number below a squad "go to" tag) and the extra scream health buff would only affect the banshee from up front, or perhaps it is a possibility to make the banshee simply go faster when she does the scream, but the main issue is the gap closing with banshees!

    Orks doesnt have damage bonus spells/tools like the servoskull, enhance or warp instability

    All support classes need more armor.

    Orks vault freeze.

    I guess this isnt the place to make a list. Is it?+ i Mean my personal list. Should i open seperated post or can i continue editing this one to add my concerns?

    Where is the other factions suggestions, cause i only see eldar n CSM changes (buffs to be exact)

    If jump assaults be brought back up to their previous health then so should Swooping Hawks. I am not sure harrassment classes need increased EHP. Why try to restore what was broken before?

    Banshees could use wargear which gives them an extra sprint speed buff of say 30-75% with appropriate LP cost. If Chaos can equip speed additive wargear (Mark) then the faction most suited to it is Eldar and the class most deserving is the Banshee. That solves the gap closing issue. Other suggestions could be increase armour on the Banshee or introduce a medium armour for Eldar.

    Suggest more armour for cheaper LP cost be made available to all classes on all factions across the board as many people seem dissatisfied with the increased Time To Kill. Increasing the ability to equip more armour for everyone as a balanced option may help alleviate this concern.

    Regarding Reaper Launcher, unless all heavy weapons were changed into a loadout AV or AI option I do not think it wise to make the reaper launcher such a special case. Loadouts per match are limited and in changing the weapons damage focus to the loadout would force more loadout options onto a faction that already uses the most classess and therefore loadout options already.

    It would be better to make the reaper launcher effective in its current state. Eldar lack area of effect options to clear an entrenched enemy (especially since tempest has such problems firing through windows and railing) to further reduce/remove splash damage from their only popular AoE heavy weapon may be too much. Every faction should have access to a high damage AoE which can be used for this which should be used for slow firing attacks on entrenched positions.
    Every faction should also have an equally effective AV ranged option. Eldar are currently using mostly Fire dragons because nothing else is that effective. Make the reaper launcher effective again in AV and more people would use it in that role like a lascannon can be.

    No troops should ever suffer an autospot (including JPA). Spots should have to be added manually or automatically if the player is hit by a shot fired by an enemy. If tanks can cruise around 'stealthily' without firing weapons then no player should ever be autospotted by not firing.
