You use a reference about a starting point as fact and the fact that there will be melee as an excute to refute absolutely any kind of evidence of precedents provided to you. We're done here.
I agree with all but also have several concerns regarding ff. 1. Let's imagine I have just unlocked my lovely terminator\hero character and paid a lot of requsition points for it. I know sooner or later I will get owned by somebody but if this 'somebody' was one of those jerks with ego-complexes instead of my enemy the loss would 'hurt' more as it would be unneccessary. I've seen lots of such examples when me or other ppl got TKed because some noob wanted a better weapon NOW, or somebody didn't like the fact you were a better player and 'stole' his kills or intruded his 'turf' or simply just for fun of annoying you and spoiling your fun. Such situations were extremely frustrating and spoiling the fun of the game and I heard similar comments here in this thread. When I finally lay my hands on this superb, painstakingly earned elite\hero character I'd like to have a certainty that only a tough enemy can take me down, not an 'accidental' lascannon shot to the back: 'oops, sorry, I thought i saw an ork behind you'. -This TKer would get a gun lock or sth for 5 minutes and I would lose days of hard play and lots of RPs + another long cool down to spawn a character like that - you must admit that is not cool. 2. This matter was raised by many people before, among others Djemo or me: if ff works 100% the group with the largest amount of punishment to their record will most likely be shooters. They will be slower than assaulters, less mobile so they won't be able to find the advantageous position for shooting before the melee classes thus they will have to wait for them to finish their preys not to risk getting punishments. Even if they find a prey finally and start 'working on it' nothing will prevent assaulters from popping the party and jumping straight into the fire line knowing that it is the shooters responsibility to control his fire and that in case if anything goes wrong the shooter will pay the price and the assaulter will be the victim. This all may create a situation where the ranged classes will be seriously disadvantaged in comparison to the melee guys and this in turn may result in players choosing only melee specialists and imbalancing the whole gameplay. I know that these are just my speculations but they are based on the facts we already know about EC, so you can call it a kind of simulation. I'm not saying it will definitely happen like this but that it may and since there is a risk of such situation it's worth to take it into consideration and think about it. My ideal solution would be making ff do 50% of dmg - that would be fair for everybody - a middle ground satisfying both groups, the realism lovers and casuals.
It was for Kilrane, but yeah, you're right, another promise he didn't keep. but I'm not even interested in it anymore as I prefer a productive discussion instead. Coming back to topic: there was also another interesting solution by Garry (i think) - making the FF unable to kill you, leaving 20% of your health untouched. it still would be painful and could be quickly used by the enemy to finish you up but on the other hand it would prevent you from accidental kills or trolls from having fun and taking away your precious elite\hero characters. this or FF 1\2 reduction both seem reasonable imo.
