Do you think EC will be a carbon copy of PS2? Don't you see the difference in scale, the much bigger part of melee players, the influence of short range of most of guns? Do you think all these factors cannot influence ff? (little hint, read the past 80 pages )
Though i completely agree with this train of thought, we are also talking about the internet here. Also everyone will have to take into consideration that the rules on tabletop will not be completely translated to the game, it is impossible. All of this being said i believe that it will be quite difficult to create a "visceral and gory" style of combat and apply such tactical and fearful balance in the game. FF is an extremely aggressive "tactical advantage" in some games reserved as an option to be toggles on/off and not part of game play. I mean i love strategy as much as the next guy, probably the reason why we are all here in this forum but when i play a game where i'm fighting a horde of 500 orks I want to be able to pray and spray.
I am sorry, but at least the last 10 pages are a mess,so i really cant bring myself to go read 80 of what i expect to be the same stuff. I dont suppose you could make a quick resume? Anyways,i belive i understand your concern with the melee/short range stuff, but still, wont it be ridiculous if a guy can just swing his Thunder Hammer aimlessly and carelessly because he knows he wont hit his teammates?
No, there is no foundation for it. As has been pointed out before there hasn't been any concern or problems with it before ergo no foundation. I repeated the same arguments because you kept doing the same, mine were only reasoning and evidence that left yours moot. Also what case? Pretty sure I answered everything It's the closest thing to it though, You need to understand that.
Of course i can imagine it with FF,its the only situation in which it makes sense. No weapons will be useless. For example, the mentioned Thunder Hammer will still be excellent for diving in enemy formations. Hence, you trade defensive potential for offensive potential.
They've already said there will be friendly fire, So perhaps as Whiskey said it's time to accept that and look at something like adequate punishment systems.
