  1. sorry but that wouldnt change his mind^^

putting a handicap on yourself is stupid

but if everyone has this handicap its fine ;)

there will be tests for this so lets simply wait
we are turning in circles guys ^^

  2. There is nothing to consider, You're intentionally putting yourself at a disadvantage that no one else has.

There is a marked difference between playing with a fair level playing field with the same rule set and one person being on different rules than others.

I would have thought that was obvious.

You can't have it both ways. Either FF helps melee classes or it hinders them. ;) Numerous games both with FF and without have proven that FF makes melee more viable and helps balance AoE.

Now here you're just fishing for pedantic details. As long as the melee class needs to make good use of terrain/teamwork and cannot easily close distance without some legitimately good play, the system is working as intended.

You seem to be missing the part where I'm a tanker. Helloooo, Imperial Guard? The faction with the most and the strongest AoE in the entire franchise? I'm the one that's going to have to hold my fire.

I'm advocating FF with penalties because I know how horrifically OP my faction would be without it. We could drown you in flamer and grenade launcher toting Guardsmen and then have our Leman Russ tanks drop battle cannon and plasma cannon templates on you until you're just a smudge on the ground.

  4. ok pretty sure bladerunner is just running an elaborate troll here. If EC doesn't have friendly fire i will ruin every melee i find by hosing it with a heavy bolter. FF provides a protection for melee combatants, if we can fire indiscriminately with little penalty then the assaults will be shredded before they can even get the first swing in. Everyone knows shit happens and people make stupid mistakes, the penalties for ff wouldn't severely punish you for killing a few of your own side, like ps2 they would kick in when you are obviously a detriment to your team. In ps2 i can kill about 15 people in 10 minutes before i get locked, if it wasn't intentional too bad i'm still hurting my team. Still looking for examples of no ff working well, warframe and the coop for rainbow six are hardly relevant as they are both entirely pve. I apologize if my request was not clear, I just figured the example being a pvp game was a given.

Sorry Savij, I was forced :D.

No, it doesn't help anybody but it is only the ranged class who will actually pay for it with some form of punishmens, the melee will be physical victims, I dunno what's worse actually.

That's not an answer you coward :D The distance matters, I'll answer that one for you, it will be CLOSE distance, not more than 50 meters, in most cases less as only smaller distance will provide any chance of hitting anything without wasting precious ammo. These are the 'details ' you don't want to see, you prefer to turn a blind eye to it, but the gameplay will ruthlessly show all weaknesses of such a system (meaning ff in such a configuration).

Oww so nice of you, but you know what - I'm more concerned with my teammates ff than your plasma spam. The enemy's fire is something I take into consideration however getting owned by your own troops in the least expected moment is what I don't enjoy, especially when I'm wearing painstakingly gotten TDA.

As for no ff online shooter - Bullet Run, there ya go, happy? i'm sure there are dozens more.

Easy enough to give close combat troops the balance they need (as they cannot use their CC weapons as range weapons) block all shot fired into melee so no one can fire a ranged weapon at anyone involved in close combat, not even at point blank thus forcing all range fighters to either back off or draw their combat knives.

See no need for FF, but to me it's still the easier and better option.

Sorry but that is a horrible idea, the sheer exploit potential is palpable. This will lead to CC classes dictating each and every engagement and rendering range weapons useless in many of the said situations.
The notion that "CC weapons cannot be used as range weapons" is flawed, "range weapons cannot be used as CC weapons" either yet CC classes will win the day 90% of the time if they come in melee range, its their playing field.

I know it is, I was being touch sarcastic because without systems like FF weapons like Stormbolters will be far more effective than any CC weapons due to the power they pack and the fact that they can be used at point blank as well as at range.

Range weapons need to rule the roost at a distance and melee weapons need to rule it in CC, without exception.

  10. Technically firing into a melee at ranged still makes it ranged.
