As i've told you before, Friendly Fire is completely and utterly 100% avoidable if you're actually paying attention.

Yes, and we also told you before that paying attention in a melee\ranged condensed mass scale environment will be very difficult, thus causing TKing pretty often.
Works fine in every other MMO fighting a point blank range in large masses of players. Don't see why this is any different.
EC will be different because, guess what....melee, a lot of melee - that's much more than just point blank range in regular shooters and the masses will be much larger than anywhere else too - Pikko technology. But let's come back to this, shall we? Well, I have a brilliant idea: How about giving everybody what he\she wants - you want ff? Ok ff will be enabled ON you and those who don't will be immune to this. Now you will be able to fully enjoy your ff...on you. How about that, something cool for everybody?
We don't know what Pikko Technology can support, it's down to the engine capabilities not the network infrastructure. You have full squads of people with shotguns moving forward literally right in the face of the enemy and you have no friendly fire issues. Just because people use more melee weapons doesn't change anything, People still aren't going to just shoot their friends in the back to get kills when they don't have a line of fire, whether they are using shotguns or using melee weapons. It matters not. .... No. Why would anyone intentionally gimp themselves.
