Again, that makes AoE overpowered as shit because you can just spam it into melee combat and kill enemies before you kill your friends.
I feel that's why grenades, like in all military sims, should make all players take full damage. That really why is that it can't be spammed when you are limited to having like 2. Unlike bullets where you can have hundreds. Plus I think grenades should be bought with requisition and you shouldn't get them for free since they can be so deadly, which would therefore make them even less spammable since they'd be so valuable.
It works both ways so i see no balancing issue. It's not like i love the idea or anything like that... but i think there is gonna be tons of unintentional griefing. I really want the devs to talk about this after a big test, something like 100 vs 100 to see how it works at a big scale.
I agree all AoE should do full damage to all. But unless requisition is reasonably easy to get, or you get in large amounts I don't think you should have to pay for them every time, for starters F2P wouldn't get much, and I tend to be conservative with money in what ever form in comes in.
That makes no sense why is gonna be melee unviable because you take 75% instead of 100% friendly fire damage? people hitting friendlies still should get a giant message on screen warning them to stop or get weapons locked or something... and talking about this, what do you guys think about this, instead of lock the weapons of the griefers just mark them as enemies so everyone can shoot them?
It's abusable, I certainly will abuse it if I can get away with it to win. That's why it's broken, If I have say a 30 man group with AoE weapons we all take a turn firing into the melee by the time the first person fires again the penalty timer would have reset.
Lol dude if you can coordinate 30 people to do that you certainly don't need to abuse a "broken mechanic".
The points is : If a devastar stands on a hill looking at a bunch of assaults and raptors engaged in close combat. If assaults take less damage because they are friendlies, he will just shoot his plasma cannon at them without really aiming and in the end, only friendlies will stay alive. Now that Tornadium has pointed that out, I support full damage on everybody at all times. Just use weapon lock when one has done too much ff with a timer.
