    See that's the problem though, Ork boyz really aren't that much fun to play because they aren't very diverse. You really either get a shoota, a stompa, or a choppa. I'd really only like for Nobs (and higher) to be P2P, and everything else lower on the Ork faction F2P. That would certainly keep THOUSANDS of players going.
  2. i think the ork boyz can be any of the classes, as long as they don't need to be a nob. Thats what i'm understanding, when they said they wont have really and vertical progression, but will have horizontal porgresstion

  3. Especially the latter....

    Ork boyz are very diverse. They're the backbone of the Ork army and make up the majority in almost every ork squad besides Nobz, Flash Gitz and Gretchin squads.
    I can only speculate since there's no offical info on it yet, but I'd like to assume that boyz will be more diverse than choppa-slugga-shoota.
    I think that Boyz were still subject to horizontal progression - and I just can't see it being 3-weapon simplified for f2p players.

    Whether or not they're diverse in EC is another thing.

    I guess they will also receive a tech tree or an upgrade tree or whatever they going to use for character progression. So you won't stuck a simple standard ork boy forever hopefully.

    In regards to Boyz, I think I remember seeing something about F2P pretty much being the backbone of the Ork faction, and if you wanted to proceed to Nob status then you would have to pay. Boyz otherwise encompass pretty much everything. 'Ard Boyz, Shootas, Sluggas, Stompas, Stormboyz, Tankbustas, etc. Remember, Nobs are just bigger and harder versions of boyz.

    I can't stop thinking about this subject... Why only Ork boyz for F2P ?
    W40K fan will buy the full game, the F2P is made for people (Heretetic !) who don't know about W40k or had just play one game of license.

    If u want to show all the lore of W40K u can't just show them Ork. See near of you a Terminator or a Chaos devastator and figth at his side will be the best advertissement ! If ur just an Ork which is cuted, exploded, burned.... and u cant see an other race... Watch the Armor, the guns etc that's a good way to enroll new player i think.

    Every present race at launch got F2P possibilities.

    Ork => Ork boyz (maybe more grecthling, will eplain later)
    Chaos => Heretetics
    Eldar => Guard
    Space Marine => Space marine aspirant/Scout

    (Also think ... IG => Guardmen)

    And every of this F2P possibilities can have interaction with their Squad leader or highest ranked player :

    Big Nob : catch a gretchling near of him, plant a big bomb on him and throw him to enemy face ! Poor little things got mouvement speed buff and a timer before explode, can also be debuff by fear with eratic mouvement for more difficult running.

    Chaos Wizard : sacrifice an heretic to please the dark gods ! All Chaos player get damage buff for X seconds

    IG Commissaire : execute a coward ! All guardsmen get increase rate of fire for X seconds

    Eldar / Space marine: i dont know yet :p

    I think this abilities should be use only on low life F2P player or low ammo one and only one time by hour or even day by regular player.

    Tell me what u think about it, and sorry for my english talk ;)

    Because giving every race a F2P option would mean quite a bit of Behavior's game is F2P. Why have four F2P classes for four factions, when you can have 1 F2P class for four factions? Then as more factions get released, you get more F2P classes, but always keeping that ratio of having MOST of the game behind the payment barrier. That way you're protecting your product.

    Dont think so, LoL and WoT are F2P with 90% of game access. Look at the numbers of player and the money they spend....

    W40K is a wonderful but if you want to bring maximum of player in you really got to allow F2P to play more than one green ork.

    That's great for those games, but EC isn't those games. The thing with F2P is that it isn't applicable to every genre in the same way. Each F2P should be tailor made to the game it's in, meaning what works for LoL and WoT will not work for EC. Look at Guild Wars 2. It's the most quickly growing MMO in the world, and it's business model is almost the same as EC's, but without the F2P component. Games do not need F2P to be successful, they need a sensible business strategy and a committed team.
