I've always believed that the F2P Ork Boy was an absolutely brilliant idea. I stick by that.

My thoughts are that pay-to-play is wrong, as a warhammer player of over 30 years, I have seen the change from the best games manufacturer to a corporate giant more concerned with profit margins than the games so beloved to us all. In the past I have bite the bullet and payed the increasing prices for figures, rules and codecs but now due to I'll health I am unable to work, hence now have to play with almost no money to spend. I had hoped this game would be an opportunity to play my favourite game on-line for free, but now see that it will copy the system used by other money grabbing games, so good bye gentle men, I will be joining the growing group of ex-players, inc ex-members of staff, who have given up on 40K in favour of other, more sensibly priced games !

If you look at the way DOTA 2 has structured its system, it's a F2P game that is still taking in massive amounts of money because of its loot system. People want their characters to have better looking armor, weapons, costumes, couriers, special effects...the list goes on. None of these things impact how effective a unit is in the game. Apart from buffs that boost the amount of EXP the team receives in a match (which still only affects the rate at which you can attain impotent loot), there are no tactical advantages from paying money in that game.

And yet, I know for a fact they are making and will continue to make oodles of cash because people love to have the newest or coolest looking gear for their character. Some of these armor sets cost like 60 bucks, and people pay it! Just to dress up their character!

I myself paid real money to buy some treasure keys so I could open up chests I won. I'm guilty of wanting my guys to look cool too. So there it is, it's a great business model that provides a steady flow of income for the developers and avoids sacrificing fairness and equality for people who want to play.

Fino I am guessing you were referring to Jobo's comment? DOTA 2 costs nothing to play.

I have not seen any prices for the game Fino, but unless it is less than £5.00 I could not justify spending more out of an already stretched budget on a game I have not tried. I am not against the systems out there already that slow your progress in the game, but from the little I have read, most options will be locked to the player unless they pay hard cash, which feel is wrong and more importantly will discourage many players from joining the game, most of my friends who play 40k will not entertain it at present, thus depriving many people of the joy it could bring.

orks must have a lot of quests and events inside their race to motivate f2p players to grow up in their hierarchy up to WarBosss, ruling their own waaaaght. A hard competition among orks is truly needed

I think it will be better if F2P will get lower tier units for all the armies let's say:
    Orks: Boyz
    Chaos: Cultists
    Space Marines: Scouts
    Eldar: Guardians

Well, but then we wouldnt have more Orks than everything else, which is the point of this system.
