Founders Viper

So, for anybody who's gotten the founders pack you've seen the Rogue Trader store Eldar Viper, along with factional equivalents of the assault bike and wartrak. I'm excited for the founders pack, but does this mean that the Viper will not be a regularly unlockable or upgradable vehicle?

It's a fairly common and iconic Eldar tank that I had hoped to see in large numbers on the battlefield. Having it be founders exclusive, or purchase-only at all, makes this hope seem a bit of a forgone notion. Will there will be future iterations of the Viper tank that will be accessible through gameplay alone, or by purchase post launch?

The Siam-Hann warhost will feel terribly empty without dedicated viper squadrons, and I'd love to see them be made a major part of flanking strategic operations as they were used in TT and DoW. But we need manpower for that - and I'm worried that founders alone won't cut it for pilots. Does anybody have more details on this?

From what it looks like, it seems that we'll have to purchase most vehicles. I mean, Warbuggies and Attack Bike seem like they'd be the bottom of the totem pole in regards to a vehicle tree.

There will be a non-founder equivalent viper that won't be exactly the same as the one that is shown in the Rogue Trader that will be in game. I remember reading this here but it was about the marine bikes so there should be vipers in mass from my understanding of this unless something has changed.

There will be Vipers available to the general player 6 months to a year after the start of the game.
This is long after the point at which most MMOs have either fallen flat on their faces or (rarely) are spiralling to new heights on the back of players staying and attracting more people in.
A lot depends on how well the game is received in the first few months and weeks.

Having an iconic vehicle locked away behind a pay wall for up to a year will certainly send a message to new players, unfortunately that message is "You are second class citizens until you give us even more money!"

That approach to financing tells me something.. They don't expect the game to last on the long term and are planning to get the maximum money out of it as fast as possible.

I think youll find that the 2 seater versions of these iconic vehicles are the ones that will be exclusive at the start and then released to the general population at a later date..

the single seat versions will be availible at release for everyone

I really hope this is the extent of it and they continue with cosmetics.

Really so other players will have Vyper jetbikes with no rear gunner instead of a standard jetbike?

I doubt that.. I really do.

It was talked about long ago in the polls on the unique gameplay elements.
I don't think there is any way around it at this point.

This is bullshit and I bought the captain pack, just let people have the Vyper from day 1 but make it look more simple, just the craftworld colors, no runes no pennants.

Something similar happened to me, it looks like they have the game with a F2P store at launch just like TESO, but I still have faith on the devs and I believe they can make a good game that enough people will want to get into... I just hope the store doesn't ruin the work of the developers.

Having to pay for things doesn't make you a second-class citizen. It's normal (otherwise, how would the people spending the time providing goods and services for your enjoyment survive?). Considering that the base game is free and a character slot (for playing non-orks) is $10, that's pretty cheap as games go.

However, that doesn't change the fact that Rogue Trader prices are probably too high, i.e. they're turning off enough customers that they're not actually earning enough as they could - not to mention putting a damper on my (and presumably others') enthusiasm, which is something that's pretty important for the game's continued survival.
