When I seen the bolter price I almost died. How is the bolter 5 dollars cheaper than the whole game. I watched an interview with Mr Caron and he said he wanted to avoid cosmetic items costing more or the same amount as the game. Fair enough its cheaper but 5 dollars cheaper than the lowest founder pack. Makes me disappointed. Other than that I still have faith they will put things right.
I have no issue with sidegrades. PS2 does a fairly good job of this. Not perfect but still. The issue is going to be whether or not you can earn RTP in game through normal play. Similar to PS2 letting you earn certs to unlock weapons and upgrades.
You can buy weapons, perks and stuff like that with XP or requisition (ingame currencies) the store is not the only way to unlock stuff... Check this thread to know more about player progression and economy.
The worst part about it is that it's a boltgun. Not some paragon blade from the dark age of technology, or a named weapon, some volkite or rare armour set from the Horus Heresy, it's a boltgun. A basic weapon. And it costs as much as the whole game, for a reskinned version. Like I said elsewhere, if they do more Horus Heresy/collectible stuff (which I'd hoped they would do), how much are they going to charge for something more substantial for a boltgun? $100 for a limited edition sword? Come on BE.
You will not be able to earn RTP through normal play. You will unlock equipment through XP expenditure and items as rewards for completing PVE content (relics and whatnot) as far as I understand it.
am all for limited edition boltguns just don't make them that expensive. If it was 10 dollars I would be much happier. I am from the UK so that is 5 pounds or just over that. Items in other games I have seen are around that so I think that is reasonable.
The whole mentality behind the $35 ranged weapons is something Miguel said; people wanted content like model bolters, art books, figures and whatnot for limited edition pre-purchases, but Miguel said he didn't like the idea of that because it wasn't something they could use in the game. Instead he implemented visual collectables that players show off in game. They're not meant to be an item for everyone, or that people need to buy to be competitive, they're limited edition collector's items for people who love the lore, look forward to EC and wanted a collector's edition. Now everyone's using them as an example of how ridiculous the cash store is. If you don't want the collectable bolt gun, don't get it.
