Hey everyone! So there is a lot of upheaval going on in the community because of the founder packs, rogue trader points and the pricing of many of the available items. I hope this post reaches the attention of the developers and many a fan aswell. I bought the sergeant pack and if I could, would have gone for the captain pack, even after seeing the price costs! I believe the prices to be way too high aswell and I know that many of you share my way of perception. However I would like to say that nothing is certain yet. We have seen a tiny tip of the iceberg of what is to unfold in the coming 18 months or so. Many changes can be made. I was shocked to see the prices aswell but I urge everyone to calm down untill there has been word from a developer with what is up. I also kindly urge you all to keep on voicing your opinion about the matter, since that's what founders are for. We know nothing of the game itself yet. How many pieces of armor, weapons, heroes, vehicles and other customisables will we be getting from playing the game itself? Will there be an unlocking system like there was in Space Marine? Can we earn RTP (rogue trader points, I cannot recall if RTP or RP is the thing to say) by playing the game? All these questions need to be answered first. If we can earn RTP by earning achievements in the game then I can understand the price costs, same as with Gems and Guild Wars 2 or Platinum in Warframe. So once more, stay calm people. Wait for a developer to say anything about this while we keep voicing our opinions in a not so rude way as I see some others do I am sure Mr Caron or another person from the team will make a statement soon enough, just be patient. Cheerios!
I certainly hope they make a public announcement today explaining some of the contents within the store. The "Hero Packs" as they call them, raise alot of questions. So do the vehicles. If these are not skins, how is that not P2W? Example: Player A doesn't purchase Ork buggie. Player B does. Player A uses classes available to him. Player B riding around the map in a vehicle with all the benefits/damage output it provides? That seems like a pretty clear case of P2W to me. Can BE further explain heros & their role? Sounds an awful lot like Planetside 2's MAX's which I felt did not contribute to the game in a positive way. Instead of being used to break stalemates as they were intended, people were pulling them every cooldown & being used constantly. Also, the items in the cash shop comes off as ridiculously expensive. This isn't Star Citizen. $35.00 for a single weapon makes Planetside 2's outrageous $7.00 weapons look tame.
But Player A will have access to a ork buggie of some sort. The founders one will be a founders skin and it will be side graded so Player A and B will be exactly the same with slight variations. And it isnt $35 dollers just for a weapon. you get RTP equal to the price and then the weapon as a BONUS. EDIT: i stand corrected about the Gun costing $35, which is kinda silly but the other stuff i said i stand by.
I have confidence in the devs and that this is a big misunderstanding. I'm certain they really want this to be a fair game with no such element of Pay2Win in it.
STOP you talk bs, same bs i thought as i bought the heresy pack.. You buy the weapon unlock in the RT shop for 35$ and you HAVE to spend the 35k points in the RT shop to buy the weapon, or else you just bought 35k points for a very bad money to points ratio. You do not get 35k points for free or as bonus. If you happen to be a roleplayer or simply want to play two or more different sub factions you fucked several kinds of ways because you have to buy the weapons/armors/heroes for EACH of your chars.
Yea When i looked into it yesterday that is what it implied but after re reading it i have edited my post saying i was wrong about that. But all the other stuff is available to players who arnt founders, just at a sidegraded way.
About the pay 2 win thing. It has long been confirmed that the Rogue Trader will have sidegrades in it, just like you supposedly can get sidegrades in the game by playing it. Sidegrades can let you win in niche situations. Say the standard bolter has a strength 6 and armor piercing 4. The sidegrade in the Rogue Trader could be strength 5 and armor piercing 3. Lowering the damage it can do but making it easier to penetrade heavier armored units. This means that the sidegrade will be more effective against armor but won't do as much damage as the standard gun. You could say that's pay to win really quickly, but it's not. You are given a tool with slightly different characteristics which may be of use if you are a decent player. But if you are a decent player the standard gun could be just as good in general play. you do NOT need that sidegrade to be competitive. People also tend to forget there is more than just standing still on an open field and shooting at eachother. You can take cover, lure enemies to you, run from cover to cover to get into melee, perhaps throw a grenade so the enemy has to move and you get extra time to shoot at him/her. All I am upset about is just the pricing they are showing us right now. As a student who has to be an intern at a place which doesn't give any cash while the internship is a full time job, cash is hard to come by and I really want to spend money on this game but it is just too darn expensive!
Well if thats the case then why are people complaining about P2W and it being unfair etc. i dont think people quite understand what P2W is. I have seen alot of people saying stuff in the RT Store is P2W and i dont understand where they got that from because A) there are no stats for anything released yet so how do we know that a HH gun is any different from a normal bolter? Or a founder bike is better than the in game one? People need to have faith and stop making assumptions until they release more info. I hope to god that it is all just pay silly money to be cool and side graded gear, but im not a complete idiot and am going to say that it is deffinetly not P2W but im not going to say it is until we have more info. Just wish other people would do the same
