Night Lords! The idea that they serve as the pre-Heresy Imperium's Astartes police, returning to conquered worlds and restoring the 'peace' is a great concept. It is the fact that the Night Haunter knows that no-one, even himself, is above the laws of civilization that really adds to their Legion's character. It gives the Night Haunter human traits, as with the Night Lords populated by criminals, his desire for law and order leads him to hate his Legion. The way Aaron Dempski-Bowden writes the Night Lords, having the characters run the range of corruption and loyalty to the Night Haunter's original beliefs, gives the 40k version of the legion traits beyond being wannabe dark eldar, as well as charting the future of the legion as a recombined force instead of scattered warbands. The final scene of the trilogy, showing a gathering of Night Lords, also introduces a threat that even the eldar are terrified of: a Night Lord with visionary powers that won't drive him mad! Ave Dominus Nox!
Space Wolves! That is the name the others give to us, for it encapsulates our essence. As our battle litany proclaims: We are the wolf that stalks The stars in the sky And swallows the star-fire We hide amongst the night When light is gone The Light is within us We run the ruin of Fire In the darkness Foes burn in our passing For 40k, the Wolves are by far my favourite. They are sarcastic and funny and the most true and stalwart warriors, they do not hide behind cloaks like the Dark Angels, lurk behind the codex like the Ultramarines, they stand in plain sight and rip the throat out of the enemy. Barbarians they may be, but they take nothing from from anyone, be it the Dark Angels and the lion, to the war with the inquisition and the grey knights. I like to believe im of viking descent, the vikings had warriors known as the 'Ulfhednar' - the wolf heads. They were known to be the fiercest warriors able to take mortal wounds and continue displaying unimaginable feats of rage and strength. These are theyre 41st millenium descendants. We also have the oldest warrior in the Imperium - Bjorn the fell handed, even the grey knights fall to their knees before him. However deep in the maelstrom the 13th Company continues to do Russ' will, some of the greatest warriors of the Heresy are still alive and following their Primarchs orders, not a claim many else can make. Whilst other Primarchs have fallen or taken themselves off into hiding (Lions having a nice kip in the rock....) Russ is out there, in the Eye of Terror, some believe he is looking for a cure for the Emperor, only Magnus the Red knows where he is. Space is vast, and there is nowhere the wolf cannot find you, from Prospero to the Eye of Terror; The Emperors executioners come for you! For the Wolftime!
Ulthwe! The psychic bulwark of the Eldar and all that stand between their races and total destruction. They have stood guard since the birth of Slaanesh, a reminder of the true power of their proud race and staunch guardians against the ruinous powers of chaos, trapped between realms, no other Eldar are as battle hardened as the great warlocks and seers of Ulthwe, they stand vigil in the name of one of the greatest of their people, if not the greatest, Elrad Ulthran. "When there is no other way, the perilous path is the only road to salvation."
Necrons of kronus! To be quite honest there is a little diffrence between any necron faction .They are for me the symbol of power in the W40K universe. To be fair all i know from the W40K universe are from the video games or by something i read on the wikipedia. But in every game where u have a options to choose between about any playable faction i will always choose necrons first, simply because of the love of thair technology, thair architecture and of course the all mighty gods
Salamanders. Into to fire of battle. Unto the anvil of war. We are pure. We are stalwart. We are compassion. We are the Salamanders. Forged by fire and shaped by the anvil. We protect and love the imperium. The millions of souls that are dedicated to the emperor are worth saving. No imperial guard should be used as cannon fodder. We create and we destroy. We conquer and protect in the name of the emperor. In the words of our primarch Vulkan. Ours is a violent calling, but as adherants of the Promethean Creed we believe in the Circle of Fire. None can come back as they once were, but in death we are returned to the ash from whence we came to be born anew, our blood and bone bonded with the earth. Through fire are our remains made protean, through fire and the reunion with earth do we experience rebirth. After death, after our duty is ended, we give ourselves to these elements and in so doing become a part of them. This is the nature of the Circle of Fire The salamanders are my favorite chapter. They are strong. Yet they care and protect all that stands for the empire of man. I love the compassionate side of the Salamanders. The protection they are for the untold billions of humans. They are just as strong as the other chapters and destructive but they still have empathy and protect the weaker parts of the empire.
Eldar of Craftworld Ulthwé! We are hovering our own doom. We are the sun eclipsing the darkness! Mon-keigh think of us random! Orks think of us as filmsy! And thus we are manipulating them to our own ends! Such infidels! Primitives! You exist because we allow it! Our Black Guardians are ready to protect their Craftworld! Warlocks are ready to disguide the minds of our adversaries and lead dead of our kin to the battle in the name of the Craftworld once again! Our kin will be restored to its full glory! We will become again the mighty Empire we were once! Stars will be ours again! Eldrad was the greatest of our kin, he showed us the path, he guided us, and we know your every step, your past, your present and your FUTURE! We are blessed by Isha! Arkhona shall become Eldar land! Her secrets will be saved! And remember... use every tool fate presents... (Ulthwé are my favourite, because of their wisdom, because of Eldrad and Seer Council of Ulthwé! And because... they are Eldar! My kin! The status quo of 40k)
Ultramarines. As much as I am not a huge fan of the boys in blue in general 40k (Black Templars all the way!), you have to respect them for what they have accomplished. They never faltered during the Great Crusade, all of the worlds they conquered were pinnacles of civilization and progress and even during the Horus Heresy, the Ultramarines stood strong. Post-Heresy, they were practically the only reason the Imperuim survived. The restructuring of the Legions was a necessary evil, and the iron resolve of the Ultramarines was the glue that held the Imperium together after the Emperor was put into the Golden Throne. On a personal note, I love Roman and Greek history, and the Ultramarines are very much based off of ancient Rome. That would be my favorite faction that will be present in Eternal Crusade at launch. As for 40k in general, Black Templars would be my favorite for several reasons. Their zeal and fury is unmatched among the armies of the Imperium. They are like a cross between Word Bearers and Khorne Berserkers. The never retreat, never surrender attitude and focus on honor in battle (close quarters combat) really drew me towards the BTs. Again, as a huge fan of history, their heraldry, and overall look really captured my attention; space Teutonic Knights, and all that. Love all the fluff in their codex, and am disappointed that they don't get more attention from GW. In the lore section of my reasons, their inception and pre-history is awesome. Sigismund was one bad ass mother f-er. The first Emperor's Champion, and his devotion to the Emperor's vision of a unified mankind drove him to continue the Great Crusade where all other legions gave up and retreated to their homeworlds to protect what was already theirs. The Eternal Crusade has waged for over 10k years, long since Sigismund left the material world to join the Emperor at his side, yet each High Marshal to follow has never once lost vision of the goal initially started by the Emperor himself. Unified mankind.
Fellow Necrons, hear me! Long have we slumbered in the depths of our respective tomb worlds, and long have we waited for our opportunity to rise once again to claim what is rightfully ours! The might of Necron technology cannot be bested. We are surrounded by primitives, cowards and slaves. They continue to put up resistance to our cause, only delaying the inevitable victory of machine over flesh. But this is not our greatest problem my kin, for the living have caused the Warp to expand rapidly and violently through their ignorant, petty actions. The Gods of Chaos have been spawned. Warp entities who exist only to manipulate the very mortals that created them in the first place. A fine demonstration of the living's hubris and shortsightedness, surely. We MUST stop these fools from letting the Warp grow any stronger or we risk the two realms becoming one. To this end, we must finish what the hateful C'Tan had started. The extermination of all life and completion of the Null Field Matrix pylon project. Fear us, mortals, for we are legion, we are death and we know no mercy. "THE FLESH IS WEAK!"
Black Heart. The Kabal of Black Heart.... They rose from the ashes of a fallen people (after the Fall, of course), climbed the gangs and rabble of Commorragh and toppled the Noble Houses from their privileged station that had elevated power to a birthright rather than something you take by wits and cunning. Asdrubael Vect changed that, even taking a noble title in the process to more insult the aristocracy he had conquered as a slave. Brutal meritocracy ensued. Depravity was not something to be avoided or denied... for they invented the term Eladrith Ynneas, Dark Eldar... With armies large enough to swarm the sky, the Kabal of Black Heart brings terror to those unlucky to stand in their path. No army could stand in their way. No politics could stop the Supreme Overlord. A misspoken word or an ill-advised move could bring you the wrath of a full ball of hot plasma in the form of an Ilmaea-star, or a massive starship ready to crash on your home, or simply a present triggering a black hole. Astronomical destruction is guaranteed... You can run. You can hide. But the Raiders will hunt you down. And the Warriors will drag you out. Fear is a tool so powerful that our allies will scare themselves even thinking of betrayal. The Thirteen Foundations of Vengeance rule over something that cannot be ruled. We lead the city that cannot be controlled. Clouds run away and stars turn their backs, we bring the night. Death is my meat, terror my wine. Nobody can fully enjoy a boring heroic story about a slave fighting against those with an "easier life" by birthright. Or maybe I am wrong. The trickery and backstabbing combined with such arrogance, power and displays of massive strength in proportions of spacecraft or black holes make having the largest control over the most technologically advanced side out of all the disorganized races an intriguing prospect. And that is one I can't resist. There is also no other race that could as literally go out to the streets and grab a bunch of people to a war like Dark Eldar. Sure, you have conscripts from Imperial Guard... sure, there are Craftworld Guardians... But what other citizen could simply immediately pick up their gear and go to battle or rise to isolate and destroy invaders in their city, and also have a good time while at it? Just promise them a fun fight and money for drugs and your Kabal suddenly has even more of an army. And ethnic hairstyles. No, Spider-man, he is not here for you. My favourite faction does not draw me in through any deeper connection or feeling through my real self. That is because in the grim world of 40k, there is no room for a kind cynic, but rather for survivors and those strong enough to embrace their faith and make the most out of anything. Black Heart is my favourite subfaction within Dark Eldar because I dunno anyone else in 40k that has by themselves taken out a form of government and replaced it with a system of their own, without even fully wiping out the previous rulers (The Lords of the Iron Thorn and White Flames remember). Not to mention all the other cool stuff Vect has done, which include, but are not limited to: murdering fellow archons with methods such as sealing them inside their home with daemons or having an affair with their daughter (Archons Ysclyth and Qu, respectively) and turning battles where he seemingly lost into triumphs. Thanks for listening, and give me your soul have a good evening
