Does the Founder 'HERESY LIMITED EDITION' item pricing make sense?

I understand that we all have a choice in how we spend our money and the points we get with the packages we purchase, but does anyone else find it strange that these items are $35 a piece?

On the surface, this tells me that these individual items each are 'worth' nearly as much as the full game (in the form of a Warrior Pack currently). I agree that these sort of things are meant to be limited, but is a price tag the way to do it? Are there other points that I am missing here as a consumer?

    What do you folks think?

It's actually very simple and boils down to three questions:
    1. Do you want to feel like a special snowflake and become part of an exclusive VIP club which no-one cares about? Would you spend 35$ for this? Y/N
    2. Do you want your character to look extra pretty for your own personal pleasur, and will you take special pleasure from the fact that few other people will look like you do? Y/N
    3. Do you think that spending 35$ on an, however exclusive, skin makes more sense than using the money to buy one or potentially more good games or other items of your liking? Y/N

If you answer all of these questions with "No", then you should be able to play the game just fine without the LE armor, same as me. If you answered at least one of these questions with yes, you will simply have to pay through the nose for your special game experience.

In all seriousness, though: Compared what other games demand for limited number-skins (i.e. Mechwarriors 500$ Gold skin for your Mech), the 35$ are almost nothing. Again, I'm not buying them either way, but if they lowered the prices for the "VIP club", then all of the LE items would be gone by now and there would be a great BAWWWW'ing and gnashing of teeth. Conversly, if they keep the prices as they are or raise them to make them even more exclusive, there likewise will be a great BAWWWW'ing and the dentists will not be happy either.

Sooo... how is Mech Warrior doing these days? All I hear about it is extreme negativity...
It's really a pretty poor example as a reason for the pricing given the hate this game seems to have been getting...
The Gold skins also come with a bunch of other stuff, the heresy items are literally just models... hell the Ork one is a common bolter with a special grip/trigger (that will be covered by Ork mits 98% of the time).

I think the heresy items should be available from playing the game, like you get points for getting achievements and you can then spend them in the LE section of the store along with RP RTP to get the LE items.

To be sure, the actual gold mech "only" costs 260$ bucks I think, the other 240€ are for multiple other sorts of stuff.
Also, how would you make the Heresy items LE if you make them buyable with ingame-ressources? If we were to make it so, only those playing "World-First-Achievement" style would have access to them, and this would, I think, produce even more hot tears than the option to just throw money at a game that doesn't exist yet. Ah well.

The exact same way they are limited now... 2500 of the item...
They also still cost money, you need to buy RTP
I meant Rouge Trader Points, not resources points.
    Guardian likes this.

yeah but the stuff you buy with RTP is refundable

-.- only during pre-launch... one would assume that achievements only become real after launch...
  9. These prices are ridiculous. Because the weapons arent even mastercrafted or decorated or anything. There are going to be much better lookong weapons in-game than the ones they're offering for $35. For $35 I want something spectacular when for $5 more I can buy the damn game. Give me some kickass accessories for my guy, let me write my name on that gun, bling it up with all sorts of crap. For $35 I want to shoot rainbows out out my ass when I have this gun.

Right now, rainbows are not being shot when I look at that.
Carnage, gettozachoppa and Grigdusher like this.

No , from a consumer perspective. Yes from a "GW forced us to do this" perspective.
