I for one detest that picture.

I absolutely hate it when people INSIST on trying to "re-design" Warhammer 40,000, trying to make it look cleaner and smoother.

Why in Isha's good name would you EVER want that? If you want some bog-standard boring sci-fi, WH40K probably isn't for you. WH40K has unique aesthetics. It's dark. It's ugly. It's gritty. It's awesome.

And keep in mind that this is the Grim Darkness of the Far Future! The Imperium is practically back in the Dark Ages for all their "knowledge" of technology. As such, these high-tech, sleek designs just look out of place.

80's art was the best, really. Gave a real feeling of "This is fantasy mixed with scifi" as opposed to "This is Star-Trek".

Fortunately that image existing doesn't automatically destroy classic images of the Astartes. I can have my cake and eat it. Result
