I wouldn't mind them so long as we had the option to turn them on/off in our settings. This would allow people who want to see and use signatures to do so without annoying those who don't. As for me, I don't like signatures. I just want to read the posts.
I find sigs just get in the way on most forums, sorta messes the look up for me. I can see the point, but I'd lean toward not wanting them.
This idea is the best one so far. imo, of course. Pre-made, select-able, with no customization (except maybe add your forum name) would ease a lot of the issues with sigs.
I'm not having a go, but that signature does nothing but reinforce Fireeye's point. I think the forums are better off without them.
Ok, not having a go but, how is my old banner "pseudophilosophical bullshit, a bad quote, a missatributed quote, e-peen, or a banner about a certain cartoon show that give you eyecancer"?.. cos yeah... nothing I can see is related to any of that... It's a graphical representation of my Legion and what they do as part of the IP that the game is based on, with my name on it... BTW there is also the option to turn them off in the settings... so you're not forced to see anything...
I turned off signatures on the other forum I'm active on. It all looks so clean now. I can never go back.
"Eye cancer" and "e-peen" are applicable. We really don't need neon buckets of paint slapping you in the face after every post, especially ones which reiterate your name in an overly stylized font. We know who you are. Your name is right next to your post. If the administration staff do implement forum signatures, however, and we have the ability to turn them off, or they're turned off by default, I don't see a problem with it.
