I want you to picture this. Picture a fortress with trenches in front of it. Imagine having to bypass the trenches, only to enter a no-man's land, where you got vehicle reinforcements. While you're pushing, a guild collects the requisition to spawn a titan. The titan assists your advance, drawing fire from the turrets that are able to range you. Your vehicles are spawned as well, firing anything from twin-linked Lascannons to Heavy Flamers. Having trouble picturing it? No problem, because people are really good at making these concepts. Spoiler: . Obviously, not all of this can be going down at the same time. This is the inevitable end objective. What I want to see more of, personally, is the trenches. I want to see the patches of deserted land where you WILL be gunned down by massive gun turrets if you pop your head out. I want to see the 4 factions slugging through the meat grinder that is trench warfare, in a way that can only be described as Warhammer 40k.
Maybe if they made it so you can quit and get rewards. Map like that sounds like it could take upwards of an hour to complete. Would need to be pretty small or it would just turn into heavy bolters covering a trench. Might be fine for a while but I would get sick of the slogfest, Agnathio objective B is grindy enough. [Edit] Though in an open world or a game with flyers or artillery it could work.
To be honest it reminds me of the original Blackbolt map with the network of trenches in front of it, and the titan so to speak was actually the extremely durable vindicator that you got for free without even a respawn timer when it dies. Only back then was when the lascannon spam was considered OP sparking much rage on the forums and making even the durable vindicator a smoking wreck within seconds. Its nostalgic but it was the precursor to Harkus in terms of frustration.
What was frustrating about the previous BB was that people would sit on the walls and camp with Heavy Bolters. I'm more interested in trench warfare in general. True trench warfare, not 100m of trenches while a wall overlooks the trenches and blows everything inside the trenches to fleshy paste.
Would be a neat idea, but it'd definitely need to be a unique map and maybe have a way to opt out of it in random queues (or have quick play have a long/short game filter to allow players to pick the kind of fight that fits their time better) so you don't have people just leaving in the middle of it out of boredom and such.
In that case the fortress will have to be far far away from the trenches. the ones in front of blackbolt weren't so much siege trenches but defensive lines that defenders could easily fire into. They were almost worthless for the attackers and I believe this was when plasma weaponry was not even a thing. So maybe for the sake of establishing how this would work there has to be a considerable no man's land between the trenches and the fortress. a place that only the most heavily armored vehicles could hope to get through I am pretty sure you established this already though with the picture you posted.
Just trenches without big buildings, except for the command bunkers, which would be the points A, B and C. And then only trenches, tunnels and no mans land that can be overwatched by HBs. It has to be gritty and bloody. Also vehicles shouldn't play a role on this map. So maybe some smaller capturable spawn points that do not count towards victory could be invented. And after this the original idea from Aringhe.
More suited to the Imperial Guard, don't you think? Of the four factions in the game, only the Orks would realistically engange in trench warfare, while Space Marines, Eldar, and Chaos Space Marines don't fight that way at all.
