Ahhhh I hate Swooping Hawks. Only class in the game that seems to not have a proper counter atm.

Great vid though. Regardless of how I feel about the class. I guess even the Tweety Birds need some love and hype too.

As someone who has both played and killed many swooping hawks....literally just shoot them. With anything. Get a bolter w/ drum mag, and go nuts. If they take any fire whatsoever, they either die or flee. Both are acceptable. Hawks only do so well because they either get the drop on heavies or melee players forget they own pistols, and everyone forgets that the tactical class exists. Even as orks, just shoot them.

Totally this. I find it hilarious that as a specialist in the weapon myself, Heavy Bolters are the thing I fear the most as a Swooping Hawk, and also that I actively seek them out for flank and shank.

I feel like a gorilla trying to pedal around on a unicycle when I'm on any heavy ranged weapon class.

Don't know how you guys do it. So cumbersome. Takes a special breed I guess.

Like everything else in this game, you adapt. It's also a playstyle thing. JPA and melee in general just don't appeal to me.

It's more about knowing the right places to set up, and checking your blindspots. Also mute the in game music so that you can hear enemy footsteps coming up behind you or around corners..

While I agree that shooting them takes care of the problem when they are hovering or flying about it's when they land and start sniping that the real frustration starts. If a JPA is able to reach them the area that the SW is perched on is often to small to melee on, and if you try to shoot them you will find yourself quickly out gunned. For those on the ground firing back often means that you are exposed to their fire while they have excellent cover. Does it suck when they do that? Yep. Is it an excellent and smart tactic? You better believe it. Do I want it changed so that they can't do that? Not so much, more like limited. Currently it feels like SWs are better at supporting a team, for longer periods of time, then the actual support weapons. Once they land and start sniping the only thing that dislodges them effectively are the few weapons with mortar capability. That or a very concerted effort of focused fire. Just doesn't seem right that it takes 3-4 people to dislodge a SW, but 1 SW to dislodge a HB or AC.

That all rings true, but having been the Swooping Hawk up on a totally unreachable sniping point, a few rounds from a Bolter will strip my armour and make me duck for cover. A single HB can keep me paranoid enough to limit my effectiveness. There are situations that swing in both directions, that balance in favour of the grounded SH sniper and ones that swing in favour of those shooting at them. Having been both sides of the equation, I think it balances out overall: I'm yelling "that was bullshit!" in roughly equal proportions.

It's been a while. Have some Hype.

Thanks @Forj needed the hype. With this latest debacle (lowering the HP/TTK of everyone) I was getting low and ready to quit, but the hype vids remind me the game is about fun.
