Thanks for the reminder Alexander. Burst firing is one of the first things a successful HB learns, other than crouching, and how much chainswords hurt.

Good info @Zed-Avatar. I guess the Bolter damage seems more to me since the majority of my engagements just so happen to be in the zone with the damage drop-off. I will also say that a 69% fast ROF doesn't necessarily correlate to increased damage due to the accuracy penalties and spread. As you said, for the DPS to go up, one has to land every shot (I, of course do, since I my two greatest skills are awesomeness and humility). That might be part of the intangible that is disconnecting experience from spreadsheets.

  2. Sure, but Bolt Guns suffer from inaccuracy as well. Or at least they should, especially while suppressed. A hard 70% higher DPS should play out in all aspects of combat to guarantee it feels like you have the bigger gun. Provided all the mechanics are working properly.

Brent and I just put together our own video of this for a bug report.
As the gunner, every one of my shots were on target, but for the observer it looks like I need to go back to bootcamp. Hope it gets some coder time soon.

Wooooo! High level horsepower. Praise be the Omnissiah, we're saved!

This can help you make the HB, and all other weapons, great.
Bolter TTK: 1.75-sec, 8 Bolts, 0.25-sec Fire Rate, 30 Bolt Mag
    Accuracy: 3.4-cm spread at 24-meters
Major Damage Drops: 48 and 96-meters

    H.Bolter TTK: 1.2-sec, 7 Bolts, 0.2-sec FR, 75 Bolt Mag
    Hip-Fire Delay: 0.2-sec
    Accuracy: 2.8-cm spread at 24-meters
Major Damage Drops: 72 and 144-meters

The Dev should move/turn more slowly due to having the HB equipped, with those penalties growing once they begin firing the weapon. Aiming should brace the Dev in place, preventing movement in return for reducing recoil and zooming in for more accurate shots.
    Default SM Move Speeds
    Forward: 6-ms
    Strafe: 5-ms
    Back-Pedal: 4-ms
    Sprint: 12-ms

    HW Hold SM MSs
    Forward: 5-ms
    Strafe: 4.2-ms
    Back-Pedal: 3.5-ms
    Sprint: 12-ms

    HW Fire SM MSs
    Forward: 3-ms
    Strafe: 2.5-ms
    Back-Pedal: 2-ms
    Sprint: N/A
  6. No.

Raising TTK by 50% and making a Heavy Bolter Space Marine less mobile will not "instantly fix things". It will only make them even more Assault fodder than they are now. Even if Devastators get Knives they will still be too slow to fight back, and it will not be fun to be knifing people 40% of the time instead of using your big gun you chose.

You have no simulations or data that states WHY your system is better.

    Go away.

Concur with @Zed-Avatar. On all points.

Reducing mobility is the last thing the HB needs. This is a fast paced, mobile game. Anchoring the HB will just ensure it can't be where it needs to be, and make it an even easier target for JPAs and other melee. Most HBs only move and fire out of desperation anyway, at least when they are actually trying to hit anything. I would say the majority move and fire without the expectation of hitting anything, but are just looking to suppress to provide cover for teammates (or themselves). Totally preventing them from making that choice further cripples the HB.

It's great that you have the ideally balanced system planned out down to the hundredths decimal, but what happens when the first piece of gear drops? How will effect the system? The devs have an interesting plan to beef up the HB and get it to where they want it, and from the looks of it, it is JUST crazy enough to work.

Small update on my mouse issues: uninstalled Setpoint and Logitech Gaming software, jittery movement still there. Problem not solved. Oddly, my 3 tier DPI settings still work
  9. It is specifically the driver you need to change. The extra program just lets you configure options in the driver more easily. Manually install a Generic USB Driver (one built into windows) and disable the existing one.

All that's left in the Device Manager is the HID-compliant Mouse from Microsoft. My Google-fu is weak tonight in finding an alternative I trust and believe to be the right thing. The more I play, the more I notice how much the movement issues hinder me. I now notice how I'm struggling with Lascannons, Turret Cannons, and even bolters sometimes. If you're having trouble keeping things on target, I suggest you check your mouse movement for smoothness using the Garrison. If enough of us are having the problem, perhaps it's something that can be tweaked game-side.
