Yeah, I try and specify "standard bolter" to mean the non-sniper one. The sniper mod one is certainly a potent hard counter to the HB. Or at least it should be.
it isnt anymore its a bolter you can zoom in really close and watch your shells go off target now ... and the retical looks like the heavy bolter non braced retical when you are scoped in ...
Well, then add that to The list of things to look at for the devs. I was under the impression that only LSM have that, so any time I am killed by a bolter from CSM, I assume it was a skilled player with a standard bolter. When playing the Dakka, I tried to judge based on hit pattern to see it it seemed like the old Stalker. If the kids aren't giving the same effect as the stalker, that explains why I wasn't seeing similar patterns (one to four closely spaced nugget shots).
Yeah I never really wanted a pistol myself. I would have preferred a combat knife instead, but I knew that they weren't going to give heavies that. So I'll be content with stopping power instead.
I just wonder how it will work if you switch to pistol and are engaged in melee. Will you be trying to pistol whip them instead of bashing them with your heavy weapon? This kind of problem is likely a big part of the delay. I'm surprised they just didn't scrap the idea.
Not to brag, but I already feel more capable in melee than I should be as a devastater. No real need for a pistol at the point, or a knife. Maybe once the next round of changes to DBbash occur the need will arise, but for now it would add insult to injury.
