Wow, those Ultramarine models are some of the best miniatures I have ever seen. They put the detail of the Templar Brethren to shame!! The perfect Command Squad/Honour Guard miniatures! And damn, those Word Bearers look great. They are my fav Chaos legion. I really think they are a tragic story. One of the Emperor's major screw ups in judgement, along with the Thousand Sons.
It's cool and an exciting move by GW, but aren't they just essentially competing with themselves (Forgeworld)? Like, there's really nothing there that FW doesn't already offer. It will be cheaper, of course, but...I don't get it.
They are sister companies if im not mistaken. My guess is FW will still produce the fine resin models for characters and upgrade packs, while the GW plastic will just give people easier access to the basic models. They will compliment eachother nicely
Yea. FW isn't in retail stores. So now a local store can start carrying some Horus Heresy models to start people out on the game. Stuff like starter sets and maybe some basic units. FW will have all the good stuff that makes HH what it is. A HH starter set is exactly what GW needs because people are offset by HH costs even more than 40k. This is the gateway drug.
I will be ticked if GW suddenly decides to produce upgrade packs and characters, even vehicles, as i believe only FW should be able to touch that kind of stuff, but i doubt GW would.
