So now that Eldar arrived to a wider audience of early access people I figured it would be a good thread to post your first impressions.
Be constructive and try to give aprox amount of hours that you played so far with Eldar either as Eldar or fighting against Eldar
Again this is first impressions but still could be of some value to us and to devs.
So how you feel about Eldar?
    Whats good and whats not?
  2. It's hard to tell if they're balanced or not. Enemy tanks are a powerhouse against us because we don't have one, don't have a lascannon, and don't have plasma guns.

Melee seems about right, but it hurts against chaos because they all pick up MoN and we don't have any penetration weapons and chainswords work just fine against us. So far, most of my fights against them have devolved into raptor and TA spam.

Health is so low that most attacks that drop you also finish or nearly finish you, making rescues uncommon.

I think getting points capped is going to be pretty tough for us as that we seem to need every class and only one of them can take the point. Mixed with the ease of one salvo dropping you from full to completely gone, Dire Avengers are more precious then diamonds and full assaults are relatively fragile.

Also, with our hip fire being so much worse then a marines, they're tougher AND more mobile then us in a fight.

And even though wave serpents are good enough to leave two people flying them the whole game, they get treated just like rhinos.

My FIRST impression of the Eldar is that I like what they 'got goin on' and I will enjoy playing them.

My SECOND impression which came very soon after the first was that I was watching entire quads of Eldar being wiped out by a single melee assailant. Now, this happened at least five times. We as the Eldar were simply unable to take the first point as were were slaughtered the instant a fight broke out, no amount of fire could bring down a Chaos marine before he killed five and six of us in melee.

That HAPPENED? Are the Eldar REALLY that squishy? If so, why is our damage so low as to leave us so disadvantaged? If anyone can prove me wrong and convince me this was just bad luck, PLEASE do so. I want to believe the Eldar as not as weak and defenseless as my last match made them seem.
  5. THE NATHANIMAL EventHorizon Arkhona Vanguard

Eldar have identical health and armor to space marines and Chaos Space Marines at this time, our health and armor for some classes will be lowered in the future when balancing is done.

The problem is our strongest melee weapon at this time is a sword, while the other factions of axes, maces, and power fists. Also the Striking Scorpion melee appears slow and clunky at the moment. That leaves one class with normal movement and a decent weapon, the Warlock.

Also I've noticed a lot of eldar players playing like total noobs! Nothing like my ol' CSM days lol.

Melee issues are overhwlemingly an issue, and they stack up really fast.

-Melee specialists recover from Dbash/Clang faster then none melee specialists: This causes us to lose our "agility/mobility" advantage against marine melee specialists.
-Light Swords attacks are faster then you can dbash/clang as a non melee specialist
-If an enemy dbashes after you, there dbash wins, this is a bug and being exploited by dedicated melee players left and right. You almost always end up take 2-3 light hits after you lose to this dbash bug.
-Jumppacks make marines more agile/mobile in a melee fight then eldar can possible be which kind of totally negates what are racial advantage are.

Animation issues: I see most of these across every class I play.
    -Grenade throw stun lock
-Falling stun lock -Tested by falling right next to a chaos sorc, he finished way before me and even light attacked be twice before I could dbash.
-Dbash speed is slow. most eldar melee attacks are rather short range, and the rolling forward melee attack doesn't work

    Quick impressions on each class:

Striking Scorpions: I think their stealth works well enough, it would be nice if high end graphics did overcome the stealth effects. Will be better when has other melee weapon options as well. Scorpion Claw/Power Sword maybe. Need more range on melee attacks imo.

Dire avengers: This class is fairly well balanced, I just feel like the spread/damage drops off way too fast, the weapon is barely optimal at close range (which also happens to be melee range, so we don't really get to use our gun very effectively) I think the range before dropoff needs to be extended slightly, otherwise I'm fine with the class. If they give us melee options, like rumoured, it'll be very interesting.

Fire Dragons: We'll see what the melta nerfs do, but I don't think they should nerf the FD melta gun, it's in a really good place right now imo, very short range, overheats really fast, forces you into a runa dn gun style. This is a rather balanced class imo.

Dark Reapers: This class is full of issues. No bracing for Shuriken Cannon(SC), no reloading while bracered with Reaper Launcher(RL) (At least make it auto unbrace/reloadbrace when you hit the reload button while braced. The projectile speed on the RL is terrible. Firefights with autocannons are auto losses. They just side set the tiny explosions from the RL and fire back with super fast projectiles that still cause damage when they miss due to flakk. Reload time with on 6 weapons is super bad too. How many shots does a plasma get without reload/overheat? I'm unsure about that change, but if the projectile speed was better the reload wouldn't bother me so much. The SC is decent up close, but it's suppress effects are non-existent. Also waiting for shuriken pistol backup weapon please. We really need eldar Missile launchers to deal with turrets on harkus.

Warlocks: This class seems rather balanced. Decent melee weapon, the heal is great, not sure what the destructor really does (more tooltips please). If debuff the enemy, but there is not visible effect if the enemy is really debuffed or not and noone knows to what extent it increase damage.

Waveserpent: Please fix the washingmachine cycle these tanks go into way too often. This tank is solid, the turret is great, the shuriken catapults the driver fires are basically useless, how about giving them suppression effects to make them worthwhile. I'd rather concentrate on running over people then firing that gun.

Falcon: Washing Machine...... Hoyl Crap Bright Lance. Yes it's effective equals out on how effective the predator autocannon is against eldar/other tanks. but right now there is no reason to charge this gun. Needs to be fixed.

Cobra D-cannon Tank: The respawn timer on this tank is making trying it super hard, since half the time if blows up due to washing maching after spawning. Seems fine, although I think it should be able to shift it's front end up to arc shots are the turrets on harkus, but if that doesn't get change, give it some advantage over the vindicator.
  7. Makeka Makeka Arkhona Vanguard

    First impressions.
Thoughts that popped up while I played.
-The stealth mechanic on the striking scorpion is surprisingly fun!
-The fire drake weapon is little tricky for me to use proper, such a short burst with a long reload time.
-Dire Avenger, not the most exciting but hey the class is supposed to be the "all arounder" for Eldar, it's solid.
    -Warlock, love the chain heal!
-The back flipping looks silly :D
  8. DevilfishJack Steam Early Access

Dire Avenger: Under powered and without a properly defined role.
Fire Dragon: Way too good VS infantry, not good enough against vehicles. Currently displaces the DA
Dark Reaper: Shurikan Cannon; Decent weapon that appears to be fairly buggy but mostly effective
Reaper Launcher; I have no idea what this weapon is supposed to do, it has slow awkward
firing mechanics and is incredibly buggy
Striking Scorpion: Stealth mechanic is nuanced but fun, appears to be suffering from buggy combat
Warlock: Completely outclasses the rest of the eldar by being mostly functional. Might be OP, cant' say
  9. Texcaliber Texcaliber Steam Early Access

Most of this had been changed after this hot fix. DA is better (faster reload helps alot) Dragons bad vs inf. Next patch warlock will get offence spell (really excited).
  10. Dracosh Dracosh Arkhona Vanguard

Not my first impression, because my first impression melted Khain's face.
But, with last hot fix the life of DA become a little bit more easy. At least now i can kill SM! From behind. In close range. In head. If he AFK. So yeah, still lots of work here, but the direction is good.

Tanks! Gravitanks is the thing i was exited more then other. They feel... Strange. The driver's weapon have a weired fire arc, i can't even understand where it targeted, seems like it just firing in all directions without any sence. Need some improvements for this. Warp Hunter can't shoot at turrets. Kinda. Whaaa? Oh well, let's just use it like a ram then. Still nice effects, tho.
And Falcon. I'm just curious, will it able to carry small squads of 6 persons? Oh and 2nd weapon, shuriken cannon, i believe, didn't make any effects while firing: no sounds, no projectiles. Weired and have to be fixed. (if someone didn't knew, you can switch between laser and SC with mouse wheel)

So far i'm satisfied, but i think eldars need more love and more work on them.
