Mmmm, only just after this implementation did I become aware that I reload rather frequently, especially after any sort of engagement. Before, this didn't get punished as I could always just start reloading while being on the lookout for foes, interrupting the reload if necessary. Now, reload is a bit of a fixed action (if still interruptible by more time consuming means such as sprint and dodge). All in all, I find this not to be a disagreeable change as it was too forgiving before.
It means that that 1/4 to 1/2 full magazine that you just released from your weapon, that's laying on the floor or back in your mag pouch, can't start magically feeding ammo back into the firing chamber as if it's right back into the weapon because you see some baddie with a Power Sword pressing in on your location mid reload. A long overdue fix for a cheesy mechanic IMO. It's already bad enough magazines magically "reload" themselves after each mag change. i.e. shoot 5 rounds, change mags, shoot 10 rounds, mag change, shoot 3 rounds, mag change. Somehow each time there's a full mag being shoved back into the weapon without actually having to top off each mag manually. Cheesy.
I like that change, put's the T into actic. I am still suffering from the "79 out of 80 Bullets! Have to... Reload...!" addiction, but it becomes better slowly
Encourages people to think about when to reload and when not to reload. Rewards people with experience in this subtle but important skill. Good change overall.
Gameplay trumps reality on that one. Sorry, but it's a shooter staple at this point because no one wants to stand around managing ammo magazines in the middle of a firefight. It is an overdue fix though, we agree there.
except you can still instantly interupt the reload with the briefest of sprints, making this change meaningless for anyone who knows about it, while increasing the gap bewteen a newb and a vet. "he was reloading how did he start firing so fast?" because the vet knew to tap sprint and the newb dosent even know thats a thing. The change does nothing to vets, and will make the game more infuriating and more importantly it will also feel alot clunkier.
Ork melee hop attacks are weird. The sliding lock factions tend to be able to chase a backpedaler much easier than the directed hop lock attacks.
