Fire dragon. May be a nerf or not.

Discussion in 'Eldar' started by The-Forge-Dragon, Jun 28, 2017.

?

Should fire dragon melta bombs be a single cooldown grenade instead of a charge based pack?

  1. Yes.

  2. No.

  3. Make them cooldown but keep the pack.

  4. Have cooldown based single bombs, and a charge based two pack.

  1. Double meltabombs need to go and fusion gun shouldn't be a copy-paste of the melta gun.
  2. You can put any meltabob on the ground eldar or not and when tank will be near it explode it by a shot. And bombs on ground NEVER stick itself to tank or skimmer.

In any case, what could bring an interesting meta is to set up a timer on melta when putting them on the vehicule, by reusing the animation from when you resuply to ammunation crates on the map.
No matter the faction, no more suicide melta-bomber that will just run for the vehicule, stick a melta bomb on the back and run off or die. They will need time and either extra sneakiness or teammates to protect them.

Never said there wasn't an answer, just saying that a single FD with a Falcon, does the same job of at least 2 LSM with a Rhino. I'm sparing my team a dude compared to LSM, orks have it even harder as far as I know.
  5. Currently I believe the split in the issue many people are seeing is that it usually only takes one lone Fire Dragon to run out and take down an unorganized groups transport where it will usually take some coordination to take down even an unorganized Eldar transport.

If the group is coordinated then the Eldar will need to work together to bring down an enemy transport usually but Eldar transports tend to not as much organization to keep alive if people are paying attention despite being weaker because of how quickly they can move and road kill.

The goal for game play should be that all infantry should need to have some coordination to take down a vehicle full health vehicle. Of course if people just ignore a transport and let a AV unit do what they want with it, it shouldn't take them a million years to kill it either.

It's because the FD specializes in killing tanks. It cannot cap points and it's anti-infantry capabilities are sub par unless well supported. A single LSM with a grav gun can kill the FD before he reaches the rhino and still be a threat to other Eldar as well as the point.

Additionally, Orks and the other races have a different sort of balance from the Eldar. While a single FD cam be a threat to the transport, he can't take on the whole team.by himself. The Orks in particular can wipe him off of the face of the earth and each class has AV options, meaning that they can deal with a whole swarm of FDs, their tanks, and then press on to the point. You don't see this happen because a lot of Orks are new, but Choppas damage tanks, so do Krak nades, powerclaw,Zedek so on and so forth. The point is that Orks can just mob the tank with ease, achieve the same devestation, and be robust enough to continue moving in a wake of destruction. A FD is one and done with a double melta, and he has to get there. Prevent him from doing so and he's useless.

Fire Dragons are only OP vs static, unprotected vehicles, and it makes the biggest difference in fortress mode. Moving vehicles are the bane of a melta-bomber's existence, and you'll notice that Eldar almost never leave their vehicles unattended. They are also specialists in AV, and while they can be deadly against unprepared infantry, the same can be said of any other class from any other faction. They are ONLY good at anti-vehicle, and any other purpose can be served better by classes who specialize in those purposes.

This wouldn't achieve balance, Marines 1 Meltabomb to blow up a wave serpent, Eldar 1 Meltabomb leaves a Rhino at 1500 hp, needs to use fusion gun to finish rhino.

Even if you buffed just Eldar bombs to 6500 it's not enough. MB on Wave Serpent, Serpent left with 800 hp. Eldar MB on Rhino, Rhino has 1500 hp.

That's not balance, that's not equal TTK.. This has been the problem with Meltabomb bundles, so few people understand the damage and HP involved.

It's just to make sure a Dragon has to add a burst on to his bomb to kill a vehicle. Limiting the suicide bomber nature of Dragons.

And? What's the problem here? LSM has extra effective-people numbers on objectives because of how apothecaries/servos work. What's more, their AV setup in competitive matches is BETTER than Eldar's if they even bother to use it. If they decide to staff their rhinos with a melta/grav combo, they almost 100% win any even-numbered engagement between AV groups.

Most people on this forum, yourself included, have no idea how good FDs play.

70% of my Rhino kills involve me sticking my bombs onto the side or top of a rhino to avoid fire, or to get them in if the unit is moving, These are then finished off by my primary weapon. The only games I go out of control with FDs are the ones where I am blowing up unattended rhinos, killing the reinforcements that spawn out of them while on foot, reloading at my wave serpent after re-positioning it, then continuing. Nothing suicidal about that - quite the opposite.

The suicidal complaint only comes from people who respawn into rhinos after fighting on point while an FD is already setting up their bombs, upset that they can't stop the rhino from dying despite killing the FD. The cherry on the cake is that unless you get significantly outplayed by the FD, you SHOULD down him in an equally matched 1v1, because his damage on you is delayed. I understand that it is frustrating, but that isn't a balance issue. That's a perception issue.

It is very tiring to hear these nerf suggestions from weak players who are upset they can't counter rock with scissors.
