This thread repeats over and over, nobody is reading it, best is to just let them have their own discussions as they aren't gonna read the prior stuff anyway and there always will be one coming who doesn't read anything and just throws the whole SoB opinions in and so on and the whole discussion starts all over.
Im not gonna lie Most of what you said is true/incredibly likley. I REALLY hope you're right that the space marines wont be the super elite ultra power faction of awsomeness. Because that would just be silly. As for the lore slave part. We problably get it from GW, heck even bE are super lore nerds in 40k. Now the faction balancing part. The only factions that I can see being properly playable are Tau and Dark Eldar, But I would still like to see the SoB and MAYBE necrons/IG. We must ALL also remember that this game is in pre-alpha so much is to change and technically none of us are right on "This faction is OP this" "This faction wont do that". Sure we can gather data from what we've seen and heard, but it is still all maybe a year/year 'n a half away. Tyranids indeed were made to balance gameplay. And they attack the faction with most land/whoever has the upper hand, and judging from your post, it wont be the space marines mainly. One day they may be gangbanging the orks, the next day they may assault the eldar. All of the races are unbalanced against each other, they will all have according strenghts and weaknesses, same as the tyranids. War itself is unbalanced. Imagine it being "balanced" in real life Now time to end this post off with the ACTUAL TOPIC of the thread. Female substitute for the SM ain't gonna happen sonny. Sure you can say "We can just change lore plz?" I wish it were only that simple. Then again, it """may""" (I cant quote this enough) change in the future if it is not counted as official lore, then the possibilites will overvlow from the clogged lore toilet. Like some other people have already said before, SoB and the SM are not as similar as one may think. Sure they may wear the same power armor but it is lighter/heavier, sure they fight the betterment of mankind. Now imagine all the SoB fans and the ALREADY OVERFLOWING (hopefully not in the future) Combined. Cya orks, you had a nice run chaos, oh...you to eldar I guess...Nice knowin ya. But hey, not like I know what Im talking about. Im just a "lore slave". Also to finish something up real quickie. "Over 51% play games in USA alone. 45% of those gamers are female" PG.8 (Reply wasn't working for me, so I'll just put the thread page number) You do realize that that is 45% of females that play games in general and not the ones who play Warhammer 40k....right?
I'm not negative I've just played enough games to know its ebb and flow. MMOs are notorious for balancing issues. If you ever played one you'd agree. Same said for GoW. You say negative. I say realistic
That is undeniable that we all know, and they state, if an ork boy has the skill he can take down a space marine, if that is the case balancing wont be as unfair then. Well games workshop managed to balance 10+ factions, follow Table top follow lore, do some MMO gaming tweaks and balances and enjoy. Pretty much nailed it down correctly that is how it is sadly, one has to see the lore, lore denies but it also allows, you got to find the support for it all.
First off, well written post and arguments. 1. I've never wanted female space marines. including sob with the SM works the same as giving CSM the corrupted sisters. but, yes you are correct on over population for imperium. 2. Lore nerd amd lore slave are two different things. The nerds don't want their game raped I.E female space marines. The slaves refuse to acknowledge logical points to make the game smoother and just twist lore to benefit their opinions. I feel like the "slaves" understand lore to a great extent but are aloof to what makes a great/balanced game. 3. So because all 45% wont play 40k means don't try at all to market to nearly 1/2 of the gaming community? This is a company who need to make sales to create a successful game and hopefully xpacs. Excluding that much of a market is foolish. SWTOR had a lot of promise prelaunch and just flopped due to honestly it was just a bad game. My point being it sunk and no xpacs came out that were worth anything. So, lore makes more sense for SoB to challenge 4 of the most renowned chapters of SM as heretics than working as a temporary alliance for this sector war? I get they have difference I.E. SoB worship the Emperor as a God while the SM hold him to the pinacle of a human being(God worship started the Horus Heresy) But, they have way more in common than naught.
They were an alien race. We don't know if they had sexes, and if they did, how many. This are not X human race, but alien races. They do not need to bend to our standards (which, in fact, are really unrepresentative, as there are more things in the world than "male and female"). And, again, I don't know what are you discussing here: there will be no female SM, CSM nor Ork, because GW won't allow it. Period.
I'm sorry, but you can't compare TT to an MMO. In TT, power is balanced by quantity. That is never the case in an MMO, but EC will try something like it with f2p Orkz vs all other factions. You can't use Lore in every decision because the lore is over-exaggerated and incompatible with a MMO. It worked for WH40k Space Marine where you could tear through Orkz and Traitor Guard while Chaos Space Marines and Nobz were more your match (actually stronger, but that was to not make the game too easy), but they can't do it with Eldar (as an example) in EC. Eldar won't have the population to rival Space Marines and EC can't afford to make them weaker either. If you want lore-based balance, then that means a much lower server population limit for the stronger races while a large population limit for the others. Will better integration of lore + not being able to get in the game make you happier?
Too many people who want to play space marines already. I hope this free to play thing for orks works atleast.
if there isn't female character options, I know some femenist will go on a rant about: HOW THIS GAME IS FOR PIGS, AND IT DENIES THAT WOMEN CAN FIGHT AND THAT IT SHOULLD BE CLOSED DOWN. I just want to see that cause stuff like that is hilarious to watch.
I fear you misunderstood them a bit - you could create the most female-friendly game ever and they would still scream bloody murder and sexism because gives it them publiclity = more site hits = more ad income = more money. These parties genuinely do not give two fucks about real feminism but do it all for the cash. Craptaku is a very nice example for that, as is RockGenderShotgun.
