All lore most have an origin, hence within these two years, you most introduce a certain origin for female astartes like for example. Books / Novels in writing a story in how the emperor with let us say a certain detachment of early costudes geneticly enhanced humans not astartes were at this planet, how he experimented, how he succeeded, how it was disliked by chaos, how a warpstorm opened up consuming most of it if not all of the costudes but the emperor managing barely to escape and focusing on the male astartes, as it was easier of an template to work with. Many laboratories were there mass-producing the item needed to create female astartes until it all turned upside down, then a new codex got to be designed showcasing this aspect in a new edition and a lot more fluff has to be added regarding the emperor, what makes it work, why was it considered impossible at first and so and so forth, what age was this in, when did he experiment with astartes how does this experimentation at the time work with the rest of the lore, what time is more fitting so it does not appear conflicted him being at two spots at the same time. We are not changing the fact of how an astartes is made, we instead add a whole new process of creating an astartes through the female body, different organs can be added, deficiency rate is higher so mutations can occur it is different. But the silent king and dynasties coming back having necron tomb worlds all over the place, some are insane determined to kill destroy with no other though in mind, some have a nobel lord with his intelligence still intact and instead gives his kin a purpose wanting to return back to the old ways of civilisation. They give you options by choosing the old ways or new ways by adding to it, they did not break how they worked they added to it instead, and it all checks out with lore. Adding female astartes is not a question of breaking lore in how it is, the question is how would you add it now that we are so far away being 10 or 12 millennia away since the birth of astartes, adding female astartes with a finger snap, fucks up the chain of the story, got to rewind and look for a time and place it can be added into and see how it all fits together. Changing the lore breaks it, adding to the lore carefully does not break it. And saying female astartes can not be in because of the lore is true, but there are always ways, and fuck me if someone keeps saying no no no, it is not impossible, it is very well possible if you apply your self to thinking outside of the box.
Still against female astartes. Female IG, Eldar and Sisters of Battle should be enough (when added). Gain from adding female marines would probably be so marginal it would not matter. Dont see CoD or Bf player whining about lack of female soldiers..
Let me put in another perspective, i played the Blood Rayne series, I played most of the Tomb Raider games (not the newest one) and those are just of the top of my head where there was a female character. I am a 95kg bodybuilder wide as a closet, yet i didnt care. Why? Cause the game is actually fun, the franchise took me and held me in its good graces irrelevant of the fact i was playing a girl. Should have people screamed bloody murder cause there wasnt a male option? Even if im sure that in those times when first Tomb Raiders the actual playerbase probably didnt even have any notable following of females? I repeat, a true fan loves the universe for what it is, for what it always was. If someone loved it all this time without female SM/CSM he will still love it come ECs launch. The audience that comes from the sides arent worth the hassle of impacting the lore in such a strong and extreme way. Of course everyones free to propagate what they want but as much as it sounds like trying to preserve the "guys club" it really isnt. I just dont want to see the lore twisted and hope the devs stand their ground on this notion.
i have been watching this thread for a while, and i agree with almost everything DjemoSRB has said, the choice of what gender you are playing has no real effect on the game, its not like its a RPG where parts of the plot change due to gender (by RPG i dont mean MMO's, i mean things like Mass Effect, Dragon Age etc), the gameplay will still be the same, and they cant make female space marines fit in the lore, the only way i can think of that MIGHT happen is if some Slaanesh worshiping marine gets a warp-sex change, and there will be more races with females in them added later, and if you really want to play the game, what sex you get to play really wont change whether you play the game
Meh, most people aren't asking for female space marines. They're asking for more options elsewhere. IG, Tau, Chaos etc I guess women can play daemonettes if they want to belong to chaos? lol
then they are asking for something that is already going to be added later, so this thread is a mute point
