That's why the "git gud combat awareness" argument is rather invalid when talking about ranged vs melee. The fact is there is often no choice. Keeping a safety distance most of times is just not possible.
This is the real problem with the bolter/bolter equivalents. There is Melee range, and there is is plasmagun/heavy bolter range. All the capture points are really claustrophobic, and many have a platform above for the devastators to light people up, so it makes it that much more frustrating to play a tactical. Frankly, the only way I can see them fixing the bolter and its equivalents are to actually change the map design.
there arent any counters when your across the map and the first shot kills you from way too many weapons either.
Right click spammer is a noob As a melee player I use fast attack only when person runs from me or if I want to interrupt someones heavy attack. RMB is so easy to interrupt with bash and just shot a person. Few shots and bash again. You will down every RMB spammer this like. The biggest problem now is HEAVY attacks, which can reach far and bypass bash. All clever players use rolls and heavy attacks. Except orks..I cant see the difference between their bash, heavy attack and fast attack, so I have no clue what are they doing
Their lunge is insane. When I play a slugga I cannot close in fast enough on a PC before I can hit. As a PC Havoc against a Shield Bro I can't charge fast enough. That lunge is just incredible.
This is why Plasma Canon is no where as near OP as melee spam. Ranged weapon in general should do significantly more damage.
Bolters are only good for shooting into melee when there is clanging. Yes, I shoot into melee. I'll continue to shoot into melee until 3 JPAs attacking one target start inflicting damage on each other.
But...but...but...Eldar players claim that they cannot one shot in melee. How is this possible?!? They keep on telling us all to git gud because they did from patch 18. It's pure skill.
So much this! Every time a gun is good at downing a melee class it gets nerfed into the ground! Stormbolter = Accuracy and damage nerf Plasma gun = Accuracy, damage and overheat nerf Bolter = Accuracy and damage nerf Meanwhile let's give the melee weapons DoT, lifeleach, the ability to oneshot you and allow people to spam a long range heavy attack. At this point it does feel pretty one-sided in terms of ranged and melee.
