I'd be happy if they made it so that shooting a melee in the face would cancel their one shot heavy attack. Makes no sense that melee cancels all ranged attacks(grenades/bolters/hb/plasma) but shooting them straight in the face for a second with a heavy bolter has no effect on them as they're drawing back for a heavy attack. How many bullets to the face should equal one hit from a power sword?
Maybe this is not 100% an arena melee game but at the moment that's not even so far from the truth. Surely the general feeling is strongly influenced by server performance but as far as I'm concerned I die to melee like 80-90% of the time while ranged guns are negligible with little exceptions. Surely this is where the game has to improve.
First of all, you do know that MC bolter is the same as bolter, right? Second, why you werent shooting orks head? You can score headshots from the back even if head is invisible. Plus, orks are the toughest faction, so no wonder. However abusing headshots against them actually makes bolter one of the most effective weapon against them.

I would be happy if we had the same TTK on ranged weapons like there is on the melee ones. It looks fun though, and honestly if my Tac would be a bit more mobile and my Bolter would kill that fast, the game would be awesome.
Most of the maps are so claustrophic and cluttered that there is no "if" they close into melee. If you can shoot someone, 9 times out of 10 you're already in melee range.
1) It's more of a mapping issue than anything else. In almost all maps we fight in glorified closets, short range classes overperforming is to be expected. 2) Never understood why melee is RMB noskill spam, but ranged combat isn't LMB noskill spam. 3) As already pointed out, try nothing but melee for a while, see how you perform. For every good player topping the charts, there's usually 4 scrubs you don't even notice while fighting, crowding the lower part of the score screen. 4) In my personal experience, I usually see the Assassin commendation ranked above the Crusader one.
