I disagree. Especially in 40k. Ranged classes should be at a disadvantage but not feel totally helpless in close combat. Meanwhile, melee classes should have gap closers to press close combat and survive the hailstorm of gunfire. That way, neither class feels overspecialized and 40k retains its fluidity between ranged and close combat, and no one gets frustrated. Melee classes wouldn't feel like they were drowning in gunfire and ranged classes wouldn't feel "done" as soon as a guy with a sword gets near them. The trick is to make sure everyone is engaged at all times. That way everyone would be having fun no matter where the fight ends up.
You can close range with them pretty quick with the power of the charge swings. Faster than they can kill me most of the time.
For calling this game more of a melee based game than shooter? Do the math. There are more melee classes than ranged. Most people I have seen play Melee. The top of the score board is usually melee. Melee is more popular in this game for a reason (outside cheese like heavy weapons), the netcode doesn't help.
Used a shieldbro and just RMB as my only action all game. And I mean the ONLY action. Not even W for walking. I got around the map as fast as people sprinting and there were certain people if I got close it was an auto death despite me RMB spamming and them playing correct. At one point I spammed my way through someones fire for like 20 feet got in range then beat them to death...that just shouldnt be possible imo.
Actually, you were spreading misinformation. That's a politically correct method of calling you out for being a liar. If our mods were doing their jobs I wouldn't have to bring to light the fact that you're are spreading blatantly false information about Eternal Crusade on the forums. Perhaps you should do the math. Tactical's for the most have a much wider variety of weapons than any other class, though Eldar and Orks are still lagging behind Astartes Tacs. All combined we have more types of ranged weapons than we have Axe, Mace, Fists, Knife, and Sword weapons. Dont believe me, off the top of my head those are the only 5 category of Melee weapons. Ranged on the other hand we have Bolt Pistol, Fusion Pistol, Plasma Pistol, Plasmagun, Boltgun, Storm Bolter, Stalker Bolter, Heavy Bolter, Meltagun, Fusiongun, Shiriken weapons, Twin Linked Shuriken Catapult, Shoota, Big shoota, 5 to 6 pistol types for Orks, Dakka Defgun, Zapgun, Dakka Plasmagun, Shuriken Pistol, Shuriken Cannon, Plasma Cannon, Multi Melta, Rokkits, Tempest Launcher, Swooping Hawk has 3 different weapon types.
It sounded like a joke - you do know what a joke is, yes? Your response is actually hilarious. GUARDS, GUARDS! GET IN HERE!
One problem is, EC critical engagement ranges are all melee range, or just outside of that in the soon-to-be-within-melee range with all the small rooms, corners, and cover. (with exceptions such as fortresses) Consider the situation of Tacticals. How often do you fear a Bolter user? A low RPM weapon "built for long range" that usually doesn't get to put its strengths to use. I feel like when I play melee and die to a Bolter, it's more of a "I made some mistakes" more than they had anything to do with their own success. Let's add the state of Bolters to part of the reasons why LSM is struggling to hold ground. And the latency issues are hitting Bolters the hardest.
