Feels so bad trying to play ranged in this melee game

    I'm gonna steal Ravage's video for my response:



    If people KNEW how the melee system worked and actually practiced you'll find that melee isn't crazy overpowered. Most people in this game are AWFUL at melee.

    This video is great evidence that people don't know how to melee. That banshee and scorpion were fucking horrible at melee.

  3. This is the problem though, in this game melee don't need any help from ranged. Just look at the screenshot posted in this thread http://forum.eternalcrusade.com/threads/last-argument-of-chaos-battle-deployment.59056

    Chaos won that and didn't need any help from ranged. If the two needed to go hand in hand that would be fine but currently ranged need melee, melee don't need ranged!

    Hold the phone....so your response to melee doesn't have problems is this video?

    Let me break it down to why this video is inadmissible as evidence.
    • Always has a heal buff on, may even be a damage reduction
    • Wearing highest toughness armor (may even be a veteran class)
    • Can deal out poison on melee
    • Dbash is actually working
    • Notice how the bolter requires 1/2-3/4 of a clip per kill

    Don't forget, on top of all of that, the Banshee and Scorpion in that video were about the most Potato melee players I've ever seen. RMB spam much?

    It also depends on the map and the players.

    Try a full melee team against a decent defending team on harkus.

  8. True, the fortresses do lend themselves more to ranged but I think they're the exception and even then, when you've done the now laughably easy job of breaking into the fortress through the gates I think an all melee team would stand a better than evens chance of capping the points.

    Slightly off topic but I'm also really disappointed they've made the fortresses much easier to attack, they used to be hard sure but attacking a fortress should be hard and when you did win it felt like a real victory against the odds! Now you go in as an attacker expecting to win :(

    On the other hand
    • You can't have both toughness buff and heal over time vials, they are mutually exclusive
    • Survival benefits from relic armor are laughable, especially against power swords. Also could be just RTP shop armor trims, since he's already wearing mkIII armor. Also, relic armor can be used by tacticals too.
    • Dbash not working is more of a bug needing to be fixed than a balancing issue
    • He's averaging 17 shots fired per kill, including misses, friendlies hit, and in the second part of the video at a distance quite above maximum damage range for bolter.
    Notice how he's engaging melee enemies at a range far from ideal, and most importantly, how he is able to fight back, while the vast majority of people complaining seem to think that having a melee character under 15 meters to you equals certain death.
    Once more, we need fixes to maps, fixes to dodgy functioning melee mechanics, and less durability loss in successful RPS counters for lower tier weapons.

    But the apoth is boosted. And stays boosted. Not everyone is boosted all the time, especially tacts. The apothecary is quite a melee beast. They are much harder to take down than tacticals. Finally he is not going for the cap--because he can't. Other than keeping a couple of dudes busy, that apoth is not playing a team game. He is glory hunting. Play the game. Work with a team and try to cap. The apoth is a support character not Rambo.
